VGK has renewed my interest in the NHL. Growing up in NYC, the Rangers were my choice. Back then you could get into the old MSG for around $1.50 when you showed your student ID. The Montreal Canadians were always sold out, but you could easily get into the Garden when the other four teams were visiting. Yep, only 6 teams in the league back then.

But then I moved to Long Island and it was now the Islanders for me! Guess I got lucky and was there during their heyday, when they won 4 Stanley Cups in a row (1980 - 1983).

Getting back to today, I'm a big VGK fan. Have gone to a few games and watch all the rest on TV.

Yesterday I made a small wager on the St. Louis Blues (+135) over the Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup. The Blues have gone from "worst to first" in the second half of the season, so I'll stay with the hot team.

Safe money (and mine) is on Boston.
My unofficial pick - Bruins in 6. At least this final will be more interesting than the NBA Finals.

Since my Blackhawks have pulled a 180 in recent years I don't have much of a stake, and although I'm required by law to hate all St. Louis sports, a small part of me is pulling for them. New England sports have had it too good for too long.

I want Boston to win but they have had a long time off. St Louis is tough and they simply wont have that rust. The should get out to a 1-2 game lead before Boston gets up and running on all cylinders. Might be too late at that point.

Go Blues! Play "Gloria"! I have money on them since my September trip (12/1). Too bad i didn't bet on them near New Year's (~100/1). Lol

    They looked OLD tonight!

Badly, badly outplayed and outworked by St. Loo. Can still win and I’m due to cash 2 dimes if they do, but my confidence is waning!

    Two takeaways from yesterday's game:

    1. Blues need to cut down on penalties. Think they had 5 last night.
    2. You bet over 5.5 goals in the game. Score is 2-2 after the first period. You take a seat near the cashier, and you stay seated long after the game is over.

    Lets try this again.
Boston was 4 for 4 on power plays last night. Good job Bruins. Too many penalties Blues!
