I booked a flight on Spirit, very low cost, but got scared and booked a backup flight on SW with points, flights are 5 minutes apart, I know i can cancel SW up to 10 minutes before take off. If Spirit cancels my flight or goes out of business, I'm covered. Anyone else ever double book air?

Plenty of people do, most double book with SW though. Or book 2 return flights on different days so they can leave early if not having fun or extend trip if they are having fun etc..

yep.... just remember to cancel the SWA flight. If anybody says they will credit the points back if you do not... WRONG... policy changed. You must actually cancel.

Yeah Spirit will not go out of business, that's silly. They had a bad week, other airlines have too.

I double booked my flight into Dallas last week (was worried about weather cancelations) and had no issues. I just cancelled my flight days in advance, not last minute.

I wouldn't make a habit of double booking flights though, taking seats of someone who also have a destination to get to. Booking flights on different days, especially for Vegas, makes sense and I have done that to extend a trip before. That's different than double booking though.

    Quality time for me!
Starting off 2022 on the right foot! Winning!

Yeah. I wouldn't wait to the day, maybe a week before. Never did this before, just watching my back!
