Hi, looking for a lower to mid priced hotel for one night at start of our trip. Next 4 nights are at Signature, so not looking for super fancy. Both Southpoint and The Orleans look appealing. Wonder what other's experiences are and which you prefer.
    Cheers!

I've only gambled at Southpoint, but have stayed at Orleans many times. There's more to it. If it's just one night, I'd suggest there unless Southpoint offers a really good deal.

I will toss in my 2 cents. I have stayed, played and eaten at both casinos and the South Point has much more to offer.

I've played at Southpoint on two occasions and stayed there once – the Orleans countless times. I found the room at Southpoint verrrrrry nice, which reminds me of the rooms at Suncoast. No complaints about either place, though Southpoint is more isolated.

Other than the room, Southpoint was the first place I ever had a mojito (back when they used to put in a ridiculous amount of real mint), the Chinese food in the coffee shop was terrific, and I got four blackjacks in a row - really! You can't go wrong at either place.

The pool at Orleans is very nice and offers more wide-open swimming possibilities as it has no islands like South Point. But about half the pool area is in the shade created by the hotel tower. Sun lovers will probably appreciate the South Point layout more. Both properties offer cocktail and food service in and around the pool in season. Both create shade and provide misters for those who wish to escape the Sun. The South Point offers an air conditioned bar area. Either hotel is excellent for the price.

One significant advantage for Orleans is the BConnected loyalty program. Because they have operations in other states, joining their slot club can result in the ability to stay in some of their other properties at discounted or comped rates.

:wave:have stayed at the Orleans more than 40 times. mostly comped rooms. stayed at the South Point twice, but gambled and went to shows there many times. IMHO rooms are much nicer at the SP. if they were comped i would stay more. SP is very clean, friendly etc as is the Orleans.. ROB didn't say if he had access to a vehicle. if u do SP. if u don't ORLEANS. also i love the food at the Orleans much more than the SP. especially the cafe and buffet. that's my 2cents.

I enjoy playing craps at the Orleans but I don't really like staying there. The craps tables are lively, the dealers are good and one table is non smoking. But I prefer Southpoint as a place to stay (and I like playing there too).

    I love southpoint!
Cocktail service is good and quick (table games), the rooms are very nice and big and I love the high ceiling in the casino. It makes the place feel bright and spacious.
    I'd go for Southpoint.

Sounds like I can't go wrong either way. We won't have a car, and it will be mid march so not super hot, just looking for a fun place for first night of our trip. I appreciate all of the comments.

I'll be at Southpoint March 9-13. So that's a selling point right there.

Seriously, I love SP. They've always been great with comps for me (I've got 2 rooms for those 4 nights), they have all the food and gambling options I could want. Great hosts, movies and bowling if I get bored.

I'd say Southpoint. Nice big rooms, plenty of food options bowling, movies, good gambling. Usually lol. We make sure to take our guests there (only live 15 minutes away) and they have all loved it.

Love the Orleans and have stayed there many times but regular rooms at South Pointe are nicer or they were just a few years back. More to do at Orleans but that isn't a big consideration if you are only staying one night.

Today's sale at South Point tipped the scales in their favour. With the free shuttle, and $20 less for a room, I figure I can't go wrong.

Just out of curiosity how long does it take the shuttle to get from SP to say MB in normal traffic? Thx.
