    My Trip Report

    Mandalay Bay:

    - Would recommend someone turn up the lights on the casino floor. I couldn't see.
    - Property looked in good shape
    - Limits fit the quality of the place

    Luxor:
    - Mr. MCann: you lied to me. I didn't like it very much!
    - Stayed in a tower room. It was fine for what it is. It's not brand new or amazing, but it was serviceable. Probably like a 0.5 star lower tier version of a Ballys room?
    - Did get housekeeping, although one bizarre thing: They only have hand/face soap bars here I guess? No shower bar or shower gel? And the first day they only gave us one bar of soap, so the hand/face bar was also supposed to be used on your nether regions?
    - Gaming: ehh. I don't love the floor. For some reason, Luxor is much less busy than Excal, and their table game hours are much more limited. I would not stay here until they fix this
    - The high limit VP bar is closed, with social distancing stickers on every bar top and no chairs there
    - Speaking of chairs, they replaced the chairs in high limit slots while I was playing on Saturday. I rate the new ones 4.5 bums out of 5
    - Drink service in high limit slots was not befitting of a high limit room
    - Decent amount of $10-15 games on Fri-Sat night ($10 UTH, $15 6:5, $15 craps, $15 roulette)
    - The second floor area is just dead. I wouldn't count on Rice and Stix coming back
    - MLife is randomly committed to its dumpy buffets offering brunch. Luxor and Excal are running that. The food choices are as low cost as possible - bread, bread, bread, cheap meat, and eggs for $25-30
    - I took one of the slanting elevators up to the 20th floor and I was dizzy when I got off. No thank you. Building this was place insane.

    Excalibur:
    - I'm more positive on this one! I'm not the target customer, but I actually liked it, except:
    - Drink service, oh my god, it was terrible on the table games and in HL slots
    - Their tables/casino were very busy all weekend. This place was packed and had a good energy. Still lots of kids, though.
    - We did a happy hour at Vagabond (the $5 drafts from 5-7 pm). It was a nice place to relax. Mostly AB taps, but they did have Space Dust for $5, which is decent. We ordered an app and it wasn't bad. I'd do this again.
    - I saw $10 craps here during the say on Saturday
    - The $25 blackjack table is right at the bottom of the escalators/stairs in the middle of the casino floor
    - As always, tip your sports book attendants and drinks will come
    - Their sports book bar has bizarrely bad VP relative to the rest of MLife
    - The closed poker room is just sad

    NYNY:
    - Ate at Nine Fine Irishmen; it was more ok than great.
    - Floor is still a wasteland and the streets area is still cool

    Mandalay/Luxor/Excal transit:
    - tram was on. I generally didn't take it. It's not running up to T-Mobile/Park MGM, so I didn't really see the point vs. just walking
    - This is pretty far; I doubt I'd stay down here again partly for that reason. I'd rather stay at:

    Park MGM:
    - The highlight of the trip to me. I really liked it!
    - Love the non-smoking
    - Table limits are fair for the quality of the casino. $10 tables during day on Sat, $15 at night
    - I'm going to ruin someone's secret here: use the solo bathrooms in Park MGM's high limit slots area
    - Drink service in HL slots was better than most of the rest of the Strip. I spent a lot of time here.
    - They have 9/5 JoB STP on their All-Star/Super Star slant tops for quarters. Can play one line.
    - I suspect I'll be giving this place a shot next time. Also want to go to Best Friend still.

    Aria:

    - Limits very high, as expected
    - Row 802 is still there
    - Posh Burger was not good
    - Din Tai Fung: YES. I'll be back.

    MLife:
    - Comp update TBD. I played a lot relative to my normal standards (something like $10k coin-in at VP per day, a couple hours of green chip play a day, and some sports bets) so I am intrigued to see where it ends up.
    - Lots of decent 98.5%-99% VP in HL for quarters. Generally, seek out STP and DSTP, they probably have at least one of 9/5 JoB, 8/5 JoB, or 8/6 Face Slayer Deluxe
    - You can really tell that Luxor and Excal get the crappy old VP games relative to Aria and Park MGM

Wow, that's harsh. How yould you compare the soaking tub in the Luxor room to the one in a standard Bally's room? Oh wait...they dont have them lol. Your soap and service is not consistent with what I've had there, but I've only been in suites. One of those suites included a connecting tower king room which was in perfect shape and had extra towels, soap, toilet paper, even a fresh box of Kleenex etc, so that boggles my mind. I've also had them willing to bring me extra of anything I've asked for. Different strokes for different folks I guess. I like that it tends to be less crowded, and is in between Excalibur which has a fun casino with a lot of old stuff, and Mandalay, which is nice. And high limit is usually like my own private casino because there's rarely anyone else in there. But these could all be down sides for someone else. Sorry you didnt enjoy it!

I couldn't care less if a room has a tub; it's just not my thing. It's in the vein of what Dai Lun is saying.

I would rather have more room space, newer furniture, and a shower that was more than 5'9" above a poorly installed plastic shower insert that bounced when you stepped on it. And a sofa or chair thing that actually fit between the bed and window curtains. The room is a good size, but it needs a refresh. If I have a 400-450 sq ft room, don't give me a split tub/shower. You're wasting room space. Give me a better sitting area or desk setup. It's just a personal preference!

They also only had two hand towels and wash cloths in the bathroom of a two queen room, which is a minor demerit. 3 towels was nice, but some folks would like to wash their face separately.

It's totally personal preference, but I shower, and I'd rather have a silly CET half open, larger shower that worked with 3 pumps on the wall and 3 full sets of washcloth/handtowel/bath towel than what I had at Luxor (and that's staying something, I dislike the mystery pumps)

Bingo. Just giving my feedback. Some people want a trip like mine. Many do not. My real advice is if you're a 30-50 year old mid roller who doesn't smoke/club and wants to eat some decent food on the Strip and play on a floor with a balance between limits, game quality, atmosphere, and drink service - give Park MGM a shot

Wow! That 9/5 JOB STP is a great find! Was that in the HL room or the main floor?

I see so many people commenting about housekeeping. If I'm staying for 4 days or less, I don't need housekeeping. I don't need turndown, new towels, sheets, etc. I put my DND as soon as I get in the room.

Do you have separate soap at home for different regions? My bar makes stops at all ports of call.

I don't understand why people care if furniture is scuffed or has signs of wear. It's a hotel room, it will get used.

I'll say that we did the Excal and the MGM brunch buffets and though Excal had better food options and better food in general. The only thing MGM had going for it was the Coke Freestyle machine.

I will agree that we tried Park MGM for the first time this trip and enjoyed the non-smoking aspect. But table games at $15-25 was too much for us. I played a little and saved my money for Jerry's/Cannery/Ellis.

Luxor's Tower Bedroom rooms with a tub are one of our favorite rooms in all of LV (after Delano, which is on a completely different level).

Were any of those 10 and 15 dollar games at ParkMGM 3:2 Blackjack? I am a dreamer but I just had to ask. If not were any 25 dollar tables 3:2.

This one made me laugh. I took the tram to Excalibur last Thursday, and the place was packed and had energy (I won't say good energy). That's why I got the heck out of there as fast as my legs would carry me :).

    Different strokes LOL.

Thanks for a great detailed report. Heading to Luxor next week. And if the at VP bar was closed on the weekend, can not imagine it will be open mid week. Oh well.

As to tram - it has never run up to ParkMGM area. To be honest, about 90% of the time when we are at M-Bay, we still walk through shops, Luxor and Excal then over to NYNY. I find it not much more time than the tram and I burn enought calories to clear out a drink or two. LOL

High Limit back left corner they have multiple of them. They also had 8/6 Bonus Deluxe on it

in general, go to MLife high limit rooms, find the all star/super star poker games with quarters, and there is generally something decent on 3 play or STP/DSTP

    Except at NYNY. Ew.

I was staying in a two person room with another adult male...I doubt he wanted to use my nutsack hair on his hands or face. To each their own, but I travel a ton for work, and this was below the standard of something like a Courtyard or Sheraton. it's below the standard of what a halfway decent Vegas hotel should be. I shouldn't have to fish the soap out of the shower to wash my hands at 1 am after I pee

Even on day two, when they gave us two bars of soap, they were the same round bars. That's Holiday Inn/Motel 6 stuff.

I would set the over/under on when the Luxor HL bar reopens at sometime close to eternity. It looked closed closed closed. The liquor was gone, too.

This echoes my thoughts of south strip. I made a rare trip over there in May and was unimpressed with NYNY, Excal, Luxor, Mandalay. I played in Mandalay high limit for a decent stretch - never saw a cocktail waitress. I do like the theming of Luxor and I had some decent luck there, but overall my thoughts were meh. Park MGM is the last good casino headed down that direction IMO.

Yes. I live alone.... and still YES!

I use much less harsh face cleanser compared to soap I use elsewhere.

All of the fuss over soap is likely short-lived. CA had passed a law eliminating mini shampoos etc... and LV was following suit. Somewhat disrupted by Covid.

Dispensers in shower for shampoo, conditioner and body wash... small soaps at sinks will eventually be the norm.

For whatever its worth... my stay at Mandalay Bay a few weeks ago, in a Skyview Penthouse Suite... there were few hand towels and no bath mat when I arrived. I attributed it to linen supply issues.

A bath mat showed up after housekeeping visit

Who doesn't have different soap for their bathroom sink vs. for their shower?
