I went to book two (comped) nights from my Boyd offers, and the Cal, MSS and Fremont are all "sold out" for those two days... (a Sunday & Monday night).
Truly bizarre, as I've never run into that for Sun-Thu bookings.

Is there some event going on downtown on those days that I need to be aware of?
(I was able to book Gold Coast for those two nights, so it must be something specific to downtown).

That weekend is a big broadcasters convention. I'm staying on the strip that weekend on an offer but without it my only comps available were 2 specific base rooms at 2 CET properties - I normally have all of them comped without using a direct offer, but they weekend I only had base rooms at 2 specific properties available on my calendar. Even Rio claimed it was sold out on comp nights for me on the regular calendar. Not sure about anything specific downtown but the city in general is definitely crowded and expensive that weekend.

I guess I should count my blessings that I scored the Gold Coast comp!

Yah, the NAB show is at the convention center 4/19 - 4/22 and seems like cheap rooms are in much higher demand than nice rooms, so I can see that affecting downtown. I had a base room at PHo booked but decided to try an offer code that looked poor in the email, but ended up being good for an upgrade to a jr suite and a tiny bit of free play, so I feel pretty lucky to have gotten that on that particular weekend!

April 16th thru the 19th there is a Golden Arm Craps Tournament at the Cal. I checked the Vacations Hawaii charter flights and the Tuesday and Wednesday flights are all full. The Friday flights have a few seats left, like 6 or so.

And these are only the charter flights. Lots of other people from the 50th state also fill the Hawaiian Airlines flights to attend the tournament.

I attended a few times during that week. It's a madhouse at the Cal. They bring in extra craps tables and dealers from all the Boyd properties help out during the elimination phases. You can tell because they wear their original casino uniforms.

I guess this event plus others going on at the same time could be the reason.

semi-hijack here, anyone planning to attend Golden Arm or received an invite yet? It's on my bucket list, I must experience it sometime, though I heard mins are $10 v $5.
aaannddd I just checked the dates and no rooms are available. I guess never mind unless they blocked some off for forthcoming invitations.....
(I still might try to book somewhere else and swing by.. I'd think my last two trips of heavy craps play at mss might get me a invite- crossing fingers)

Only the Golden Arm players receive outright invites to the tournament that is held on the 19th after 2 pm. These players, along with 20 of the highest rollers from the 16th through the 19th will face off in the tournament.

Everyone can try for those 20 slots. Every day the highest rollers are posted and knocked off as others best their rolls. Very busy time and exciting as well. And yes, the tables are all $10 minimums.

I personally try to go because as a craps player you can scout all the tables and take advantage of trends. My best wins were from some very hot rollers that I was able to capitalize on. More tables = more players=better chance of being on a hot one!

I may change to a week later... I really want to be downtown & staying at Gold Coast means a lot of Uber rides.

...oh, & I think I've got the "bankroll" problem solved - turns out that I failed to carry-forward a capital loss from 2017...
Add it all up with my "normal" gambling fund, & I'm at my bankroll level!
    :woohoo:

I tried that weekend as well and couldn't get rooms. I've moved mine up to end of March since i couldn't get anything for MM.

I'm making a plea for everyone here except for topcard and @mescalita to please stay on the strip. You're messing with my fun. lol
