Trips to Las Vegas
10
Does anyone else have a "second rate" hotel that they like? Mine is the Rio. It's mostly a first love sort of thing. I stayed there on my first trip. I also like the way it kind of has that off to itself thing. Rio, Gold Coast and Palms have that non cool kid high school party thing going.

for a long time I have been a fan of GC and the Orleans. but with the recent changes from Boyds, that relationship has turned cold.

Mines probably the Rio too. I stayed there on probably 3 of my first 6 trips, back in my mid 20s.

Good memories of the show in the sky, martoranos for dinner, and BK whopper bar, all of which are gone now.

Still love a good sports deli sandwich though!

I guess we are still lucky the Orleans is still being nice to us. I think we will take a look at Palace Station this year just in case Boyd turns cold on us this year

Palms Place. $20 trick upgraded me from regular Studio Suite to wrap around corner suite... Probably the best room I've had in Vegas if I'm being honest.. Not that I've stayed in very high end places... The most I've probably spent for a room was the Panoramic Suite at Vdara.. And this room at the Palms walks all over that.

Not for sleeping but I always have to walk through Excalibur. Walking the food court/shops upstairs is a treat just to see how boring and awful it is. Something about being in there feels like Vegas jail. BREAK ME OUT. I NEED TO GET BACK TO THE FUN.

Harrah's. I love that Royale/Harrah's/LINQ/Flamingo stretch, and for some reason Harrah's always just feels comfortable. Good people, zero pretension, fun gambling, and the service is always awesome.

Shutters Bar when it was a hooker fest...and when the CW wore thongs.

Having stayed in almost every hotel, I love me some Luxor. It is the best of the dying breed of themed hotels and although much of that theme is gone, It would take a great trick by Criss Angel to make the Pyramid disappear.

that may be a good idea. PS is doing a remodel. I shall keep that in mind.

The Flamingo will always feel like home to me no matter where I may be staying. When I walk in it just feels comfy.

It used to be the old imperial palace ...now I don't know

My choice would be the old I.P. too.
That was before they were taken over by CET and still independent.
The old girl was a bit rundown, but I always had a good time there.
The comps were by far the best around. Always got a welcome gift, resort credits and at the end of the stay, cash back!

It used to Harrah's, Ballys and Rio. Now it's Gold Coast and Orleans. I enjoy the high hotels when I get the chance to stay in them but I am just fine in the mid range places if they keep them up.

I will always enjoy Circus Circus because I spent nearly 2 decades on vacations there with my parents as a kid and it served as the basis for how I learned Vegas.

I haven't stayed there in over 10 years but, I wouldn't mind because it will always be my home mentally in Vegas. I had so much fun as a kid in the Adventure dome and the Circus Circus midway. I love every inch of that place because it just reminds me of being a kid and having fun. To this day I still take girlfriends to the midway and win stuffed teddy bears for them. I enjoy playing Video games and Circus Circus has tons of them.

These days I spend most of my time in Vegas at the poker table, the pool parties, the night clubs, and the malls. Circus Circus will always have a fond place in my heart.

I kinda dig Rio even though it's sort of banged up. I like the pool and the cocktail waitresses are always nice to me. The rooms are big, they have a Starbucks, and I still like the Voodoo night club. Oh, and I'm comped there most Summer week days, so that helps!
