I actually prefer Treasure Island - based on the machines they have. Treasure Island still keeps plenty of older machines around, which I really like. Plus they have Ultimate X in nickel and dime denominations. At Mystic I've never found a denomination below quarter. Mystic is a bit closer for me though.

I'm heading up to Duluth in mid-June for 2 nights. Kind of hoping Grand Casino Hinckley is open by then - I may make an early morning stop on my way home. I suspect that will be my first visit to a local. Who knows. A lot can happen in a month.

Mystic Lake may actually smell normal for once, since its pretty hard to smoke through a mask.

I’ve never visited TI. Always meant to but never was near that part of the Twin Cities. Usually stay around MoA so Mystic Lake was always closer. Carrot Top was supposed to have played at TI in March but was cancelled. I would have visited for his show. I since moved away so likely won’t be back in the Twin Cities area again although I visited twice a year for the last 5 years.

I’m actually on a PTO day today, and am doing my best to resist the urge to go. Good luck if you do go, and a mini report would be great if you do.

I was watching Mystic Lake's Facebook for comments on how it went. The people who got there right at 10am seem to have gotten in no problem but the rest of the day seemed to have people saying Mystic were at their capacity and they closed the parking lot. There were lines of cars with no where to park/wait so they either had to leave or just circle in and out to try and get in.

Yes a man from a Vegas forum went and was showing pictures, and one of them was the cars having to circle the parking lot to find a place to park. No thanks! If I decide I want to go, I may do a 4:00 a.m. run.

Thanks for the update! I now get to cover Minnesota as part of my sales territory; and wanted to ask the locals which casino they’d recommend close to the Twin Cities? My satellite office is in Edina...but I have the flexibility to stay anywhere. Blackjack is my game.

I’ve been to Grand Casino in Mille Lacs (loved playing there), but it’s hard to justify that one on an expense report because it’s kind of remote. I made my first trip to Duluth (MUCH more beautiful than I thought) and loved that town, but thought the casino downtown was depressing. Is the casino off the interstate (Black Bear Casino) considerably nicer? Thanks for your expert opinions.

Black Bear is actually a very nice casino. Not open yet though. I just checked today actually. Have you tried Grand Casino Hinckley, or Treasure Island. They are both nice, and actually both open tomorrow.

I also like Black Bear. The slot floor is big enough but it feels even bigger due to the very high ceilings. The hotel is in need of an update though. Its a place to lay your head if you need to stay over but nothing luxury about it.
