You can shuttle (or walk) to the Arts District or to the outlet Mall. I walk during the day and always stop at the Memorial near the Arts District. Very touching. I tend to go in the colder months, so enjoy getting out for some sun. I also treat it as my vacation, and if I feel like hanging in the room with a book or tv, that is another option to get away from gambling.
Hope you have a great time!

The wifey and I love the Smith Center, its a short walk, cab, or uber ride a couple blocks west of the Plaza. Lineup of shows is pretty bleak during your dates, though. The North Las Vegas Mall is just south of that, and worth a day trip. NuWu is also a short uber ride north on Main Street should you wish to relive your high school daze.

My solo trip goes from 9/18-23. Thanks to the iHeart and LIB music events, I’m driving down to the Aquarius in Laughlin to escape the downtown hoopla surrounding both concerts. Then on Monday AM when things are hopefully calmed down, I have a 3 day stay at the D with a slot tournament to do. While at the the D, I go next door to the Four Queens and play and eat at Magnolias. When I get the urge to go away from downtown, I just get in the car and go to South Point or one of the Stations just to keep mail and my accounts there active.

Crowds will start to pour in downtown that Thursday due to Life Is Beautiful just FYI. Friday is a good checkout day to avoid the madness. Gates open at 2PM for the festival.

When I’ve solo traveled DT, doing nothing at all is better then doing something. Countless beers while playing VP, a cheap steak special, a couple naps, snacks in bed… and no one to appease but myself…

Just a warning on the Circa pool. I found the music to be incredibly loud if you are looking for a relaxing lay.

Exactly what services are they offering at Circa? Is that a perk when renting a cabana? Does a host need to arrange that, or is there a casino employee with a different title? :wink2:

Im a mid-40s guy and half my trips have been solo. I tend to do better at the tables solo because I’m on my time. If I get up a little after a lucky run, I’ll leave the table when I’m solo vs stay and play it down when I’m with others.

LV16. 1st Strip stay, then to the Golden Gate "Deluxe" for 2 nights.

I once did two nights solo at the Las Vegas Club. Anything down there these days is going to be an upgrade!
I do the same. If I'm with others, I'm in it more for the camaraderie. If I'm solo, I'll stay if it's a lively and engaging table, but otherwise I'm more outcome-focused.

I mostly travel solo and I've always stayed part of my trips Downtown. Things I like to do when there:

    • stroll down Fremont Street, check out the stalls (try on cowgirl hats) and watch the street performers, or take a picture with those half naked guys lol

    • shopping at Walgreens (snacks and drinks for the room)

    • people watching from the balcony/patio at Hennessey’s https://www.hennesseyslasvegas.com/

    • check out the Neonopolis (looks promising on the website, but when passing I never got tempted to go inside tbh, but who knows) https://www.neonopolislv.com/

    • get a $5 slice of pizza at Evel Pie (I thought it was fun, almost like a museum, but maybe I was just drunk, go check out the toilets though) https://evelpie.com/feast.html

    • check out the El Cortez casino (just a little further than Evil Pie)

    • visit the Museum of Fine Arts (never went there yet, it's always in the plans, but once in Vegas I just get absorbed by it all and forget) http://snmfa.com/

    • play Sigma Derby at the D

    • visit Main Street Station casino (via California is a more enjoyable walk) and find the "secret room" with the antique billiard tables (there is an elevator next to the casino floor that brings you there)

    • get a free $1,000,000.00 picture taken at Binion's

    • do one of the many DT food tours (I didn't do any yet, but saw a MyVegas reward for Lipsmacking Foodie Tours, will try to score one for my next trip) https://www.lipsmackingfoodietours.com/

    • join the Thirsty Third Thursday Pub Crawl (the 16th is the 3rd Thursday this month, this is a very good deal actually, only $20 gets you like 5 drinks and some food deals, I've done it a few times and always had a blast, but I don't know if it's happening now during the pandemic) https://www.vegas4locals.com/coupons/dining-and-nightlife/thirsty-third-thursday-pub-crawl/

Got this hat in 2016 in one of the shops around Fremont:

The half naked guys  hahaha, not really into the muscular type tbh, but it was just for fun and it was hilarious, they push and bend you in all kind of positions (ohlala!) and tell you where to put your hands etc, I just couldn't stop giggling hysterically hahaha:

    upload_2021-9-1_13-33-18.jpeg

    upload_2021-9-1_14-50-3.jpeg

Watch the many performers, either on the stages or just at the street:

Sigma Derby at the D (which was under maintenance at that time unfortunately, but had a blast another night):

    upload_2021-9-1_15-0-7.jpeg

The ceiling at Main Street Station is so beautiful and I would've never seen it, if I wasn't looking for the floor above the casino with the antique billiard tables:

The elevator to the floor with the antique tables:

The "secret room" above the casino floor:

Unfortunately the million dollars at Binion’s is no longer an option. The Chippendales, @Lady Fortuna, you naughty girl! I also wonder if they will let you go upstairs at MSS when they open. I sure hope so because that is very cool. You may want to ask one of the security guards to escort you up there although we have been up there on our own before. A lot of the antiques that are at MSS we were told are on “loan” from the original owners. One more thing, the picture you posted of the ceiling at MSS has a saying, do you know what it says?

“Rise up my heart in lofty flight
On wings of song & spirits light
Be gone my woes & worldly plight
As music and dance fill the night”

I'm a 'downtown' guy, so I am a little biased... gambling is why I go to Vegas and it's certainly why I stay & play downtown - better rules & lower minimums.

That said, I can tell you that Mike Hammer's show at 4-Queens is a fun 90 minute distraction, inexpensive, & perfect for the solo traveler (as the 'seating' for that venue is very friendly/social conducive...& & Hammer loves to involve the audience in his shows).

Try Vic & Anthony's (Nugget) and Oscar's (Plaza) while you're there... & Pizza Rock is definitely worth a visit for some great pizza & a good beer selection.

Fremont East has a lot of bars & they seem to be quite lively in the evenings...a bit younger crowd than I'm usually around, but you may find it quite comfortable.

Have fun & good luck!

Pro tips: The best blackjack is at the El-Co (2-deck, 3:2, h17, DAS permitted) ...The best UTH is at 4-Queens or Plaza (better 'Trips' pay-table). If you drink gin & tonic and you're at 'the D', do not order Tanqueray...order Sapphire.

I can’t believe I didn’t know about this shuttle! Which area is the “beer district” - Arts District north? It would be easier if they just called it the beer district lol. Not a massive beer person but my friends are. Exciting news! Love learning something new, especially when it’s free.

A low strip trip? Could be….
Using up comps walkabout! Fingers crossed!

Is there somewhere to find updates on the downtown shuttle/loop schedule and any service interruptions? I liked the idea of using it but didn't know if it was affected by COVID or the like, and there's a music festival downtown this coming weekend from the 17-19 so I didn't know if it was still running then or with altered hours.
