So I talked to the Host at Downtown Grand and he said they’d Comp my room if I wanted to stay tonight.

That checks one box. The bigger challenge is bank roll. I promised the wife I would not hit the ATM this trip so I have to stay within my limits. To justify another night in Vegas I need to hit $500-$600 to last the night. I’m aware of my habits, and I know if I end up busted (and drunk) at 10pm I’m gonna pull out more money.

So we’re basically back where we started yesterday. I’ve got $300 and I need to double my money before I commit to keep going. So I’m gonna finish my coffee and walk around a bit. When the mood strikes I’ll go for it.

    Wish me luck

Here's an idea. Open a LOC at your favorite casino. Then you can take $500 out if you like and tell your wife you didn't use the ATM. :wink2:

$20 on 2 and $20 on 11 at the next roulette table you see. Honestly you won’t regret it

So I walked around for an hour or so then hit up Golden Gate for my promo play

    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Played my $25 chips with a $100 buy in on $10 craps. Was up about $75 at one point but played it back down to my original buy in. Wasn’t feeling like going for it yet so I cashed out.

Quick note: the D and Golden Gate appear to be the only casinos on Freemont offering feature bets (All/Small/Tall) on craps.

Walked back to Downtown Grand to play more $5 craps but they were at $10 to. If I’m going to play $10 I’m not doing it in a dead casino.

So I’m heading back to golden Gate and going for it. All or nothing in craps.

My wife and I went a few months back on a Saturday night..and while it’s the biggest casino I’ve ever been to, it was also EASILY the most crowded! Literally every machine was taken WITH someone waiting behind it!!
Luckily we found one open machine, won $700 quickly and GTFO!

I LOVE your way of thinking.

And it's your fathers day, you should get yourself a present, Cash out of the ATM is the best kind of present.

Nice they are comping a room for ya tonight.

Where'd that chili dog come from?

Well folks. It wasn’t meant to be. Golden gate absolutely killed me and I got stuck next to the most annoying couple ever. They were clapping (not in unison) and shouting every roll.

So I took my last $40 back to downtown grand in hopes of some magic. I actually thought it was gonna happen for a minute when I worked my $40 buy in to almost $180 but then it fizzled out.

Not even 24 hours later I’m back on the road. It was short but it was a ride.

    Thanks for tagging along.

Good on ya for leaving now!
I’m such a degenerate that I’ve BEEN in that situation...and tapped the LOC for $2000 and dropped that too.
I feel sorry for ya on that drive though..I’ve made it many times (although never alone and it’s 8 hours for me; however I have driven to Reno once or twice by myself which is 3 hours

Nicely done! I live in SD, so know the thrill of a last-minute trip. I know a lot of us wanted to see more, but I applaud you sticking to the bankroll. You said at the beginning finances are tight. You built up to your $600-700, drove to Vegas, lost that and then went home after a fun quick trip. Degen is fun, but pulling out cash you don't have (or shouldn't pull out) isn't, so well done on a quick shot and keeping us entertained.

Great report and not just a report it was more of an adventure. Well played for just going out on a whim at a casino and taking the gamble to end up in Vegas.

A participation medal from VMB is more worthy than a Fulbright scholarship from stuffy academics. I hope you accept this accolade as it is intended and proceed accordingly.
