So what's a low roller to do now that Boyd has forsaken us?

Thanks for the insight. We played briefly at Rio on a prior trip. We were just kind of thinking if we put in a bit more play we might be able to get more comp nights or weekends. Yes, I know, don't play for comps. But if I'm going to play anyway, I might as well get the most I can for it.

RE: 4 Queens - I stayed there about 10 years ago for 4 nights. Didn't do it for me. I understand they have remodeled many (most?) of the rooms but I'm still not sold on them yet. Curious about Plaza though, may have to give that one more consideration.

Not kicking them at all. It's just that OUR comps have been reduced/eliminated and it's time to consider other options so I thought I'd ask the experts here. It's their house, their rules and they can change the boxtop at any time.

Good point, 93 Octane. I think it was the wise Beeeejay (sp?) who said, comp yourself. Thanks for reminding me. Although, we really do prefer GC or Orleans and they charge the stupid resort fee so that raises the room price by about 50%.

Thanks for your thoughts. Not too sure about DTG though - seems they have been quite inconsistent with, well, everything!

That's great that Sam's Town is working out for you. I hope that continues. Our offers for Sam's used to be great. Now? Gone.

We are actually thinking that we might visit Reno in the fall or maybe instead of Vegas next year. It's probably been close to 20 years since we were there so it might be time to mix it up a bit and venture outside Vegas.

We do play at South Point often as we sometimes stay in the timeshare next door when we have family with us. I wish they did mailers! Haven't been out to M since shortly after they opened so that might be another option. Thanks for your thoughts.

EG - the "US" I was referring to was my husband and I. Our offers have been decimated from what they were previously. Plus the elimination of the 3 free nights for renewing Sapphire left us scrambling for our upcoming trip.

    Enjoy your Boar's Head bar!

No it isn't, but it is kind of special in its own way.

EJ - what I mean by "US" is my husband and me.

Thanks for your input. We were planning on playing some at The D and we'll see if anything comes of it.

Well, it's kind of human nature to never really be satisfied with what we've got - the grass is always greener, etc. Thanks for your thoughts.

That's great that things are still good for you with Boyd. May I ask, was this a marketing offer or through your host?

Thanks all for your perspectives and insights.

    Cheers,
    Kelly

It would seem your play must have fallen off quite considerably for Boyd to be coming down on you.

If you can't get comps with Boyd, I don't know who else will offer you anything.

No they are referring to people who in the past have gotten at least a 2 night comp for play. Now Boyd has changed their approach to filling their hotels and not offering the same comps as before and by before I mean years!

    I guess I simply don't understand, then.

I get the same offers I always have.

I guess I must be a "no" roller because I never got many offers for free nights from Boyd. As with before I still get discounted offers for stays but never a free offers. I usually play craps and usually a red chip player so I hardly qualify for anything other than a free meal every so often.

We probably get one offer mailing per month on average. They usually cover 1-2 months as options. Usually just rooms but sometimes some seed money, slot tournament, free keno crayon, etc. :) We're not high enough on the pecking order to get food offers except for points. Last trip there was a very significant buffet discount for paying with points.

I think Boyd has only forsaken those of us low-rollers who don't have hosts. :(

I am waiting to see what the next offer cycle has to offer. If it's another single free night after I had a really good trip with them and made Sapphire, then they only get a walk in visit. However, since I never put all my eggs in one basket, I am geting better offers from the Silverton anyway plus the Trop is throwing offers like mad at anyone they have contact info one. In other words, I'm good. It's time to find another place to cultivate - maybe it's time to make more stops at South Point for the future.

It's not just the low rollers, mid roller as well. I am long time Emerald and used to get gold card every off-strip place. Now with only $50 fp and $50 food per day. My play has been increasing in fact.
It's like Boyd used to spend 15% on marketing(random guess here), now they only spend 3% on marketing. People feel the big difference.

I get the mailers, and they used to be for 3 nights, the latest was for four. My play hasn't changed. Pretty steady at between 12-14k per day coin-in on VP. But we always book through our host. They are the only ones who can arrange the Gold card, suite and limo and we are so spoiled.

Well, the issue for many people is the reduction in the offer. For myself, my last two MSS trips consisted of about 10K (which was a significant increase) and I went from three nights to two nights.

You are a long time legend at MSS with a distinguished gambling career. I'm not surprised that you get excellent offers.

Oh, I see. I wonder if eventually all of us Boyd patrons will see less offers than we are used too. So far it doesn't seem anything has changed on my end.

Hope your Boyd offers improve in the future.

I've been about 12000 in every 3 months for a good 10 years and my offers were always 3 nights and $20-$30 food per month at MSS. That ended in February and went to 2 nights, no food, and $10 free play every 60 days starting in May. Exchanged emails with MSS Marketing Director who acknowledged the change with no other explanation and basically told me it is what it is.

Not sure what you mean by wishing the South Point did mailers, I get mailers from them at least 3x a year.

That's great! We have only ever gotten one mailer from them and it was just for reduced rates. At least I think they were reduced rates - I didn't bother to check them against the website.

    Cheers,

12,000 in per day, or per trip? If per day, it is definitely time for you to get a host.

Stayed at the Rio years ago and lowest minimum on Pai Gow poker was $25!!!!

I just smirked and walked over tot the Gold Coast. That was 10 years ago and we've been loyal GC players ever since! Nice rooms, great casino and good location!
