By the time the dust settles (be that implosion or someone finally gets it right) the cumulative total for renovations among the different owners will be about 500 billion!!!

From what I've heard it's gonna be a revamp/de-re-theming and not a tear-down and rebuild. First priority seems to be the covering up of the Industrial Chic decor.

At first they said they were gonna try to cultivate the Hispanic market. Now it seems more generic.

They are sitting on a cash machine being that near the LVCC and getting convention/conference traffic, as did the SLS and the original Non-Grand Sahara. The last few times there it was heavy with LVCC folks (lotsa conference badges) and air crews, another market they should not give up.

If I were in charge of things, which I am not, I would REALLY try to go for the local VP market during the week.

This is not a profitable enough market IMHO. Locals have lots of options closer to home. Locals for the most part know VP pay tables, expect the best table game rules, cash back and free monthly giveaways, rewards, meals etc.

I do believe they could compete for the Vegas first timers and conventioneers.

    SLS Strengths:
    - Location on the strip (not a great location but still)
    - Monorail access
    - Close to convention center
    - Parking
    - Well known for sports book
    - Enough Land to do what they need to do to compete
    - In my limited experience a good base of employees

I also was a fan of the old Sahara . Considering what has transpired in the last decade or so on the north strip. I’m glad both the SLS and The STRAT are still there and being renovated. Quite frankly for my taste the strip has enough over the top opulent Casino hotels.
