Trips to Las Vegas

It's getting real. Down to V-6 days. Lists are made and perused daily. Online reading consisting of nothing that isn't Vegas forums/websites. Errands planned (and jeesh - housecleaning too, so the house/dog sitter doesn't think we're too gross - does anyone else worry about this kind of stuff?) Lots of last-minute getting-it-together to do, mostly to do with the dog (the elderly love-of-our-lives dog) arrangements.

And I haven't even tried on my Vegas outfits! Gotta try on and coordinate the perfectly (but minimal) Vegas outfit wardrobe (y'all women will understand) :) that will fit into carry-on only. Going with a theme of gray/black/white, but aarrgg, some of my outfits are gonna look dorky with my sneakers. Well, too bad, good sneakers it has to be. I tell myself every day that I'm too old for fashionable footwear, and that in Vegas I am only allowed dorky-but-comfortable sneakers.

And my list of restaurants?!!! Way too long, I'm a foodie wannabie without the wardrobe and time to try all the Vegas restaurants I'd like to.

Can anyone else relate?

I feel your pain Ace. ;) I've got a little over 30 days and I'm about to start climbing the walls. For me the last ten days go pretty quick, its just getting down to the single digits that hurts. Have a great trip!!!

:peace::beer:

I've literally just pulled my case out to start packing.

As I have to have a day outfit and a night outfit for each day I have to partake in the 'roll' method for fitting all of it in the case! Just hope I don't go over my KG allowance.

Footwear wise I may be making a huge mistake but I'm just taking flat pretty ballerina style shoes and some sparkly flipflops. I may end up buying sneakers out there if my feet start to give up, but they just dont go with any of my dresses!!

I'm not even packing heels. I wouldn't cope.

Can't wait now!

I can relate. Our pet sitter visits were happening after I'd already been on the road a week and I had to plead with my husband to clean up some before she comes. :haha:

Rest assured that as soon as you are in Vegas all those worries will magically melt away. Enjoy!!

Thanks for all the good wishes and "relates". :D And right back at'cha all with the good wishes!

Sonya: OMG, I can't imagine the stress of trusting Ace to have the house in decent order for a sitter without me around!

And WelshBlonde: I envy you to have Vegas plans that require "dress-up outfits". I wish you fun with it. As I've said before, Ace don't play those sartorial games :p, so I just make no plans that would involve finer dressing. As for my outfits, I've come up with a plan that involves getting dressed in the morning, sans shoes, then looking in the mirror and saying something like "damn, old lady, you looking fine, pretty Vegassy, you go girl, have fun and win big!".

And then putting my sneakers on and not going anywhere near a mirror thereafter.

It could work.....

For me the single digits seem to speed by.

My bride usually picks up shifts right up until the night before we go (to work for those who'll cover her shifts when we travel).
I keep pretty busy getting minions packed and off to where they need to go.
Plus housework, yardwork, etc. and the time seems to go by pretty fast.
It all keeps me busy and out of trouble for awhile!
I'm still surprised I'm not too exhausted once we get to Vegas!

Happy travels!

I can certainly relate to this as I'm getting close now as well. I'm nearly into to single digits as I type this. I don't finish work till next Thursday but I'm already slipping into holiday mode.

So while I'm chatting with y'all.....today's Vegas planning was particularly fun. House/dog sitter is set and good to go, but she has school Tu-Wed-Th, and my sister was supposed to come let the dog out noonish on days dog-sitter is in school. Well, I've pissed off sis, hurt her feelings (I swear I'm a nice person and would never do that deliberately for any reason - but she's thin-skinned and sensitive and it's way too easy to do. I've been thoughtless.) So as of 9:30 this morning (when she shows up and reads me the riot act) we can't make the trip 'cause the dog (elderly, remember) can't go that long without being let out.

Bro might do it. There's no one else. Need to know today. Will he be home this evening for me to ask? Does he have doctor appts. next week? Will this fit with his schedule? Do we need to cancel? Aaarrgghhhh.....

Crisis was averted. Bro happy to help out. I will go visit sis tomorrow and apologize for whatever it was I was thoughtless about. She'll either get over it or she won't. But.....

Vegas is ON.

(tell me y'all have weird families too, and that it's not just us.) :)

Yes I can relate to everything you said. Even the weird family haha. And can you imagine, I have to pack for 3 weeks?! Still 20 days to go, but I'm already getting nervous about it! Especially after reading this thread lol.

Every time I tell myself, this time I pack sensible and don't bring my whole wardrobe (of which I don't wear half of it anyway, but you know, just in case) + household (I might need scissors or clothes hangers, zipper bags, first aid or duct tape and I do need my laptop + chargers, travel plug, extention cord and my favorite pillow, to name a few things). But every time again I'm carrying the maximum amount of weight in suitecase + overweight carry-on + backpack + purse and wonder how I get everything to Vegas. And back!

But then again, afterwards when I'm reminiscing the holiday, I never think back of the struggles with luggage, I only remember the fun times I had.

LOL! Lady Fortuna, you are reading my mind!! I had such struggles with packing on my last trip. I had the segment in Idaho, Vegas, driving home and no washer/dryer for the last 12 days. I knew I was going to over-pack, because that's what I do. I also had a momentary panic and bought too may snacks at the store before heading off to Vegas. I got to my hotel and looked at it all and thought, "Really? Again!?!"

But now I don't think about any of that. I just keep smiling about some funny thing or a fun moment on the trip and the fact I somehow ended up with an extra 5 days of shirts is forgotten.

Besides, once I hit Vegas, it was the bellman who had to carry all that crap. Not me! :)

So glaaad im a guy
Packin for vegas?

Two t-shirts (one I wear to there)
Pair of jeans
Swim trunks
A couple of clean pair of socks and underwear
Ma hat

All squished into a backpack

I guess I'm the contrarian here, as I've hardly given my upcoming trip a second thought. Maybe I'll think about packing over weekend, but my main concern is how I'll get to the Atlanta airport and back. (Don't yet know if I can bum a ride to the airport or a Marta rail station, drive and park, or take Uber to Marta.)

It looks like the majority of posters on this thread list considerably fewer trips to LV than my 100 plus, which I think goes a long way toward explaining the anticipation, anxiety, preparation, and "fill in the blank." That's not implying anything bad, but I suspect it's all inversely proportion to the number of visits. Okay, I'll admit to having become somewhat jaded, but at least I'm still going! I just dread the hassles of packing and getting from A to B before I can relax and enjoy the place! :)
