Silverton is great on comps; in fact I get my highest comps there although I give them no more play than other hotels I stay with.
The property has many many pros and a few cons.
    Pros:
The beds. They are the best I've had in LV equivalent to when I stayed at Wynn. Earlier this year I was double booked at Harrah's my last night at Silverton. I thought I'd move over to the Strip a day early. Harrah's even gave me a suite. Laid on the bed at Harrah's upon checking in and said to myself, "Nope. I'm staying tonight at the Silverton." My suite stayed vacant that night.
I like the brand of product they use in the bathrooms.
$5 table games. Just about all the time. And good dealers to boot.
Good drink service, I'm never wanting.
Good value on their buffet. Excellent for breakfast. Doable for lunch or dinner.
Starbucks and pretty good restaurants. Not Strip quality but good with decent pricing.
I like the huge fish tank and walking through the Bass Pro Shop.
    Cons:
Many of the rooms have a view of...wait for it...a wall. No shit. 2 feet from your window is a wall that blocks out all the sunlight. BE SURE TO ASK FOR A ROOM WITH NO WALL OBSTRUCTING THE VIEW.
Bathrooms are the lowest point in staying there; a notch above Motel 6
The best vp is 8/5 BP and LDW...not my favorite games.
A little bit too country western for me (but then, so is South Point and I stay there)...your assessment may vary.

Silverton has great bedding (as mentioned above). The descriptions of smerrian are spot on. The casino is not as large as Southpoint, but not laid out in a big rectangle, like SP, so it seems more interesting. The Steakhouse is great (Twin Creeks) and the café is pretty good, too. We've stayed there a couple of times, and have liked it. Now that B Connected doesn't seem to appreciate us as much, we may be back more often. (The VP is the weakest link here, so if that's your only concern, Southpoint is better.) Plenty of low limit games of all types, and if losing, you can always look at the Bass Pro Shops or the aquarium for awhile.

Restaurants are good. I like the Chinese place a lot.

I'm pretty sure they have good VP pay tables at the bar near the bowling alley but maybe i'm mistaken.

We spend a little time here each trip. Laurel likes the different games and we like to eat at Mi Casa. I do have one word of advise though... don't get married in the fish tank!!! DSC01324.JPG

Thank you for the wonderful replies!! We will be staying at Silverton first after such great reviews.. Now does anyone know about Suncoast (same info asked) as that looks as our best choice for second hotel?

One of those large rectangle properties (shoebox) from what I remember. They have the last Dupar's Cafe in Las Vegas...their pancakes are incredible (I get the butter on the side as they tend to drown them in it). Last stop on the WAX bus, so you could get door to door to the Airport, MGM or Downtown for $2 ($1 for seniors). That's all I remember.

Suncoast is a great property. It was built as one of Michael Vaughn’s properties as you’ll notice a similarity to Gaughns Southpoint which was originally called South Coast. Rooms large with no window air/heat, all rooms have a frig, and rooms are large with the best being views of the pool and gulf course. Many food options with the buffet just being average. They run a lot of point multiplier days and also free gift days and free buffets with minimum play. You’ll enjoy.
