My first Pfizer round was exactly this... 2 days of arm pain. Just when I thought it was better, making a u-turn was like the worst ever. Second round tomorrow and fully getting ready for chills and fever that others around me at work are experiencing.

Awww, I thought that the Pfizer shot was less intrusive versus Moderna. Thought that Pfizer mostly had the reaction to the shot that you needed epi.

Now not sure which one I want to get.

In Hawaii they are only now getting to the care homes so not sure when they will get to the old timers who are 80 and older, then the 70 and older. Luckily I am in the at risk category (diabetes) so hopefully by March they will get to me.

But they are trying to get out 100 million doses within the first 100 days so hopefully they can speed up the distribution of the shots.

But that is only 50 million people by April 30.

This seems odd considering over 90% of people who have died here are over 60. I suggest you read this article. There's some real gems in it.

What to know about Oregon's COVID-19 vaccine rollout (statesmanjournal.com)

Gov. Kate Brown has said educators and other staff in early learning to high school education will be next in line to receive the vaccine.
That goes against federal recommendations, which prioritize people age 75 and older.
“The harsh reality is, we do not have enough vaccines to vaccinate everyone at once,” Brown said Friday. “Many of our kids across the state have been out of school for almost a year now.”

Well true, but you're a long time dead.

Unlike some states, including neighboring Washington, Oregon does not have plans to set up an app or website where people can register to be told when it’s their turn.

The are still holding meetings to figure out who they think should be next.

The committee is expected to make its recommendation in February, well before the roughly 500,000 people in Phase 1a are vaccinated.
But Allen said some people may have to wait until fall, or later, to get their shots.

The vaccine rollout debate is not much different that the covid restriction debate. The economy vs. health.

If what I read is correct, the J&J vaccine will only require a single dose. That could speed things up!

Welp, I just got a text from a cow-orker who heard on the 4pm news that our county and an adjoining county have set up a web site to take names for Covid shots for those 65 and over. Not that I ever admit to being that age, but in this case I will.

It asks a few questions for demographics and medical. Technically I do have an underlying health condition (idiopathic occasional bigeminy) so maybe that will help.

Anyway, I have not received any email confirmation yet. I guess I have to hold my breath until I do, huh?

I guess now I don't have to bother my MD about this.

Oregon did an about face on placing seniors behind educators on the vaccination schedule. Now since the federal government has released more vaccine, both educators and people 65+ will begin receiving shots on January 23rd. They are supposed to release information on Friday about how that is going be handled. I may make it to Vegas this year after all.

but I heard that the j & j vaccine isn't as effective as the Pfizer and moderna ones. these 2 are supposed to be 95% effective, not so much for j & j.

I rather take the one with the higher effective rate even though I have to take 2 shots.

I haven't read anything about how effective the JNJ is supposed to be yet. Have you seen what they're projecting?

I thought it was the Astro Zenica vaccine that was pushing 65%. I had heard nothing about the effectivity rate of Johnson & Johnson.

And at 1:00 AM, I am not inclined to look it up :)
