December 10 - December 14, 2006
Barbary Coast, Green Valley Ranch, Red Rock
Received some offers for free rooms late Summer/early Fall for December. Begged my wife to let me take a trip with my buddy Earl. His brother Earl couldn't make it.
Flights on Allegiant Air. $99 each way. Cheap airfare, rooms for free. This was going to be a great trip.
We arrive late Sunday, December 10. LAS seemed really slow and empty. Quick stop at the baggage carosel and we're off to Thrifty. Once again they don't have a full size avaiable so I am offered a brand new Lincoln Town Car. Nice!
We get to BC just past midnight. Check in. Drop the bags in the room and hit the casino. My buudy Earl gets a players card. We go to the bar near the sports book get some free drinks and play VP and video BlackJack. I loose $60 in 30 munutes. The drinks don't seem free anymore. I play Wheel of Fortune. Get a few spins and go to bed up $80 after my first night in the casino.
Wide awake at 6:00am. Head down to the Victorian Room. Get a breakfast special. Then we began a short jaunt to nearby casinos. Ceasars, Flamingo, Harrah's, Imperial Palace. We spent a couple of hours wandering in Forum Shops.
Late afternoon we head over to Green Valley Ranch to check in. I'd doubled booked a couple of nights in case we wanted to stay in different joints. Once my buddy Earl saw the room at GVR he thought we should stay there rather than BC Monday night. Back to the Strip. In and out of MGM. Over to Hooter's. Then a visit to Tropicana. Ate dinner at the cafe. It was ok. Purchased tickets for the Comedy Stop. Three good comedians kept us hooting and howling for awhile.
The we made our way to BC checked out and returned to GVR. Played some VP. Won a little money. Drank some Maker's Mark. Nice. Buddy Earl retired. I played 'till 2:30am or there about.
Once again I'm awake very early. Played some blackjack. Up and down, mostly down. Left the table down $50. The casino was absouletly dead during our stay. Very quiite every time we were in the joint no matter the time of day or night.
Had a great meal in the Grand Cafe mid morning. We head for the Strip. Went to the Wynn, hit a few other joints but can't remeber which ones now.
Late afternoon I call HurricaneMikey. Leave a message. About 30 minutes later he calls back. We make plans to meet at Ellis Island for dinner. Doc Al and RossW are in town and planning on meeting Mike. So we crash the party.
Ellis Island was the busiest place I entered that week in Vegas. I sat at a $3 BlackJack table for 25 minutes and proceeded to lose $50. The guys showed up at the appointed time. Very nice to meet Doc Al and RossW. Took about an hour to get seated in the restaurant. So we were forced to drink some of the beer from the microbrewery. Pretty Good Stuff!.
Dinner was actually very good. I had intended to have the off menu $4.95 Steak Special. But, I ended up having a 3-course dinner special. $10.95 for, an appetizer of bacon wrapped scallops, stuffed pork chop, and dessert was terramesui (SP?). Not gormet quality, but good.
After dinner we all head over to WYNN for some drinks and cigars at the Parasol Up bar. Great time telling stories of Vegas adventures past. Martini's were great. Lots of very attractive young women hanging around this bar in skimpy clothing and seeming very interested in some of us older guys. I guess we "still got it!"
This guy walks buy and I ask Mikey, "Doesn't that guy look like peanutmnm?" Mikey shouts out, "RANDY." The guys turns around and low and behold it is peanutmnm. He visitis briefly. Tells us he has to get something for his wife and go straight back to the room. I offer to go tend to whatever she needs in order for him to vist with the guys and have a cigar. He didn't think that was funny. Though, he did say he might return if.... A little later he returns with drink in hand and soon was smoking a fine cigar. We had a geat viisit. Late in the evening we were taking notice of the physical fitness of a waitress. Some of the discussion was about what body type we preferred. Then, peanut says, " I think it is important for, at least, the girl to be in good shape." We all bust out lauging. One of the best lines of the night. Soon after every one calls it a night.
Once back at GVR my buddy Earl goes to the room. I play some VP. Mostly losing. Sometime around 3am I go to bed. 30 minutes later I wake up having to run to the bathroom. What happedned next I won't describe and you don't want to know. I was sweating. I was doubled over in pain. And I couldn't stay away from the commode for more than 10-15 minutes at a time. I guess I got a bad scallop. So, after 2 days of a 4 day trip I only got out of bed long enough for us to go check in at Red Rock. When we got to Red Rock I went straight to the room and didn't come out 'till we went to the airport for our return home.
I haven't wanted to think about those last two days. So, it took me awhile to even share the details of the trip. In fact, I've hardly visited this or any the other Vegas 'board'. But, now my 'jones' is actin up. So....
