This is what El Co used to be. Maybe not shootings, but always a little bad boy. It's not meant to be the place for hipsters and yuppies. For all of us that have loved El Co we have to smile a little bit. Jackie would have been sitting at his poker table after all this, and just saying "I own this'.

Just guessing here, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if this turns out to be over a girl or over lost money... and that can happen anywhere.
The things that could make something like this more likely in Vegas are:
    • Free-flowing alcohol
    • Frequency of lost money

It's easy to let stories like this play into the false narrative that the strip is safer than downtown, but the story from the Bellagio proves that this can happen anywhere that large amounts of money and firearms are under the same roof. Also it is worth noting that the incident at Bellagio happened in a public area, while what happened at the El Co was in the private hotel tower.

I really doubt he would be smiling about and staking ownership to murder on his property

The concern over this will pass for most. The vast majority of people will forget about it and go back to Vegas, doing all the same activites that they usually do. I know I have.

2017 had the RTC bus shooting by Cosmo; Rolex shop smash and grab robbery at Bellagio; Madalay Bay mass shooting; and Bellagio cage robbery. 2018 had the Ellis Island cage robbery and Circus Circus stabbings. These are just the incidents I remember without doing any research. I've been back several times since.

Yes, the properties and police need to work finding ways to make incidents like this less likely. But other than using street smarts ( which I already do), it's out of my control. Not going to live in a state of fear.

I surely do not have any stats, but I suspect violent crime is really not much different in Vegas than in other major cities. Sure, it might be better than those disney like neighborhoods that many of us live in, but not by much.

I am still amazed at how many people are reluctant to go to M-Bay as if the actions of ONE PERSON is some reasonable indicator of the safety on one place. Lack of logic is totally beyond me.

I'm guessing many who go to Vegas feel they are in some type of Disneyworld protective bubble...obviously that isn't the case
