Nice report! I’m really interested in casino quest. There are a few games I’d like to learn without annoying the dealers to death.

Glad Blue Ribbon was enjoyable. I was so heat exhausted when I last went that I didn’t get the full experience but I really like the balance of high end food without it being overly snobby.

A low strip trip? Could be….

Ok update time. As we all know, it’s easy to lose track of time in Vegas! Saturday night was quite an experience. I finally got the nerve to play some real roulette. Bought in at $200. Kept betting 2 columns at a time and lost 3 times in a row. Down to maybe $60 then I bet a few street bets and was almost break even. Won a column bet and I was done. Tipped the dealer and peaced out! Played some more slots. Nothing major. My bankroll is pretty small this trip so I’m overly cautious.

I was honored to meet @mattjb at the airport with his friend Jules who provided a stretch Hummer for the pickup! It was awesome to see Matt’s reaction after being gone from Vegas for almost 2 years! He went the extra mile to get here from the UK. Riding down the Strip on a Saturday night was a lot of fun. So many people packing the sidewalks! Got to Park MGM and Matt checked in. Then we played slots for a while. I said my goodbyes and walked back to the Mirage. I was exhausted! Feet hurt so much. I crashed.

The next morning I was feeling the pain. I do this every time! Had to give the old feet some time off. I got breakfast at a coffee shop near the pool entrance at the Mirage. Pretty good food and drink. A lot quicker than Starbucks and other places. All the restaurants were packed every morning and night. The only places I ate at the Mirage were quick service such as Snacks which was fine.

Checked out of the Mirage and walked over to the Wynn with my luggage. Lyft was $28 so I decided to walk instead. Checkin line was about a 45 minute wait. They did not have a room ready in the Wynn but they did have one in Encore on the 62nd floor. I’ll take it! I like staying at the Wynn because it’s livelier but I’m glad I went with Encore. Not as many long lines for things. Only bad thing was the bass from EBC and XS night swim. The bass was thumping till 4am and I had to work today. So word to the wise, if you plan on sleeping normal hours, don’t stay at Encore facing the Strip on a weekend. I have a $100 resort credit which I’ve been using at various places. Eating cheap while here. Nothing fancy. Lost a few hundred on the slots and video poker but had fun. Lots of good games here. The sports book area at the Wynn was crazy yesterday! So many NFL games happening. I won a small bet on the Steelers. Tonight is the Raiders game so that should be fun. Also, I’m seeing convention goers at Encore today (Monday) which is always a good sign. Rest of the day will probably be more work, then the pool and just relaxing. Wynncore has the best rooms!

One thing that always intrigues me is the type of people you see at various hotels. Wynn/Encore has a very high end club crowd on the weekends mixed with college/sports bros and older golfer types. Compared to a place like Mirage or Caesars Palace where you have more of a mix of people. Obviously, it’s due to the price point of the properties but maybe other factors like clubs or being a place to “be seen”. I always notice a lot of what appear to be wealthy Eastern Europeans and Asians at Wynncore as well. I love the rooms and the beauty of the properties but I almost feel out of place at times. I’m a sharp dresser but not designer clothes like I see people wear. I’ve stayed here with my family and I know my wife felt out of place. I’m just a middle aged dad now I guess and sometimes that’s depressing. I do remember even when I was in my 20s, I felt out of place at bars and clubs. So maybe it’s a social anxiety thing instead of an age thing.

    Enjoy some photos!

I got a bit busy and forgot to update so here goes!

From Encore, I walked to the Budget rental car place and rented a car for 24 hours. It was $50. Not too bad. I decided to go check out Resorts World and Circus Circus since I was up that way. I liked Resorts World. It’s kind of generic but very nice. I had the bbq at Blood Brothers Texas Barbecue. It was spicy! Played some slots. Then walked over to the old classic Circus Circus. I remember playing the dollar machines here back in the 90s. And they still have them! Small section of course. Tried my luck but won nothing. Kept one coin though for my collection. I walked up to the midway and turned right around. No interest in that area! Crazy how the place is still profitable. Here’s some photos.

I drove over to the Cosmo to check in. Valet was great! Got checked in to a 1 bedroom terrace with a view of Planet Hollywood. I was fine with that since I’ve had the fountain view a few times before.

On Tuesday, I drove Downtown and parked at Circa. I checked out the Cal and Main Street Station. First time ever going to those places. I love the old classic 3 reel slots because that’s all they had when I first went to Vegas in the early 90s. I miss the rows and rows of those machines. Walked over to the Fremont then back to Saginaw’s at Circa for the delicious hot pastrami and corned beef sandwich! 8D84D16D-5194-4F34-A429-2561743A793B.jpeg B2F97C03-8910-413C-9FCE-811E5686705D.jpeg 91204182-219D-454F-B4B9-BD50BB9A65B1.jpeg CE9EBEA7-24EE-426B-85E7-6059A9B3C644.jpeg 73FFDD7E-5821-4DBB-8550-DD8E1E62D7C2.jpeg 96B6EE51-359C-4AB4-A5D5-8F634BA35A18.jpeg
