September Trip is off. #1 the Airlines are just not up to task yet. I don't want to risk getting cancelled flight or put on a different flight with a long layover etc. Southwest had already changed my flight to Vegas once. #2 Las Vegas itself - the restaurants and shows not up and running enough for me. I'm a simple person and I don't have a host to book all my reservations and get me in at all the hottest spots at the last minute. Some of the fun of Vegas for me is spontaneity. I like to eat when I get hungry and not have to make a reservation for every meal.
Now my Birthday trip will be Winstar in Oklahoma. This is actually the third choice. #2 was Lake Charles. But September is still very hot and humid and the end of hurricane season. So now tornado alley in September. I had a friend who was just there and said everything was up and running smoothly. All the restaurants etc. open. All I need is a VP machine and a margarita. I looked up their pay tables on vp2free and they have some really good tables $1 Bonus and Double Bonus Poker.
Are you sure reservations are still required? As far as I know, I thought it was back to walk in status
Sept 2-5 at Mansion @ MGM
From what I've seen on social media - many restaurants are not open late. If you don't have a reservation you risk a long wait if they actually take you in. One guy who used to post here has a blog. He had a recent trip to Mandalay Bay and it sounded like a nightmare. Long waits at elevators and fast food establishments, and many restaurants not fully opened yet. He took pics of Mandalay Bay, MGM, and NYNY casinos and lots of empty spaces where slot machines used to be.
I haven't been anywhere in over 2 years. I want a nice relaxing vacation and Vegas is not it for me right now.
I was in Vegas last week and found plenty of machines at Mandalay, MGM, and NYNY. The only fast food I ordered was at Shake Shack but I didn't wait long. I had one dinner reservation that I wanted to change to a different time that evening and they were able to accommodate me no problem. I would suggest checking with restaurants you might be interested in as to their hours. You might be surprised.
Thanks, I saw then and now pictures of the casino floor and looked like they were very spread out. I remember the last time I stayed at MGM which was pre-pandemic the slot machines were much more spread out and appeared they had less on the floor from previous visits. Granted there were still plenty. Seems to be more uncertainty with travel every day. I feel more comfortable being able to drive somewhere in a few hours. Vegas is a 2 day full drive. The drive itself would wipe me out.
Just cancelled my September trip with the mask mandate reinstated. Going to Anguilla (only open to fully vaccinated visitors) in November instead.
Reservations for Sept 20-24 at the Flamingo. Hope my plans don get changed.
Sept 9-12. Seems like a lot less VMB’ers in town during September.
We’re going later then usual this September. Planned the trip around airfare costs. Sorry we’ll miss seeing you there.
