Just got back from my 5-day solo trip to the Place we all love. This is my first attempt at a detailed trip report.
Sunday: Got off work at 8:00am and made the mad dash to the San Jose Airport to catch my 9:30 SWA flight to Vegas with a stop in phoenix. Made it to the airport in plenty of time. Checked in and got a C boarding pass. Went to the gate and got there just in time to volunteer to be bumped to the 1:30pm direct flight to Vegas. Myself and 2 other gentlemen got a $200 voucher and had our tickets stamped with Pre Boarding stamps. 1st win of the trip. The flight down to Vegas was uneventful and it must have been smooth because I slept the whole way down. After getting off the plane the first thing I noticed was that the Vegas Airport seemed to be deserted. Within 15 min I had my baggage and was in a cab to the Las Vegas Hilton. Check in took only a few minutes and I was off to my room on the 17th floor of the North Tower. Had a great View of the Strip, and the room was very nice. I unpacked and then took a shower. I then headed down to check out what has changed at the Hilton. Well I found that the Hilton has gotten rid of its Keno game and that there is a new Poker room back in the Sports Book. I then went and checked out the table games, but it being the Labor Day Weekend all the Minimums were at $25.00. I then had dinner at the Buffet. It wasn’t great and it wasn’t bad. Seeing that it’s now 9:30 pm and that I have been up and running around for the last 28 hours. I went up to my room and crawled into bed for a few hours of sleep.
Monday: I woke up to the sound of tap tap tap…. Housekeeping. I looked over to the clock and saw that it was 9:35 am. Holy Crud!!!!! I spent 12 hours in Vegas just sleeping. Got up took a shower and headed down to the Coffee bar they have there and got a muffin and small coffee. This day was spent visiting friends out in Henderson. I got a CAT day pass and away I went. While visiting my good friend Josh, he took me over to the Sun coast for lunch at Fat Burger. I was hoping to catch Mikey there but I believe we were there a little to early for Mikey’s shift. Got back to the Hilton at about 7:30 pm. While taking a Shower it hit me that I had completely Brain Farted about the meet with Neon and the others at the Carnival Court earlier at 5:00 pm. SORRY. Went down to Quark’s Bar and Restaurant at the Star Trek Experience for dinner and some libations. Had the Fish & Chips that was pretty good. I then made the mistake of sitting at the bar and having a few Romulan Ale’s topped off with a Mini Core Breach. I felt no pain for the rest of the night.
I then went over to the poker room and got into a Texas Hold em $2 to $4 game. Bought in for $100 and walked away about four hours later with $155.
Tuesday: Woke up at about 5:00 am. Walked on down to the Peppermill for breakfast. Ordered the Western omelet and hash browns. GAWD they serve a heck of a lot of food. I did not even come close to finishing that meal. I then went over and checked out the Sahara and dropped a quick $100 at the craps table. I went out and bought a 10-ride pass for the Monorail and went back to the Hilton. It is at this point that my trip became Surreal. I sat down at the Pai Gow table and bought in for $100. After playing for about 20 minutes a Gentleman who I will call Mr. B came up and asked how I was doing. I told Mr. B that at this point I was up about $40. He said that sounds good, then sat down at the #6 seat and took out a $100,000 Marker.
For the next four hours I have to admit that I was having a blast. Here I was sweating over my $10 to $20 bets and my $1 fortune bets, while at the same time Mr. B was making $5000 bets with $50 on the fortune bets, and he was winning!!!! At some point Mr. B requested that the table minimum bet be raised and it was to $500. I got to stay with my small bets because as Mr. B Said “He was here first†At the end it was Mr. B’s wife who showed up to drag him away from the table because they had to get ready for dinner and a show. Mr. B promptly paid off his marker and started to leave the Table with his forty to fifty thousand in winnings. He stopped by my seat and shook my hand. He then reached into his coat pocket and pulled out his business card and laid it on the table telling me that if I ever want to change jobs just give him a call. I thanked Mr. B and watched as he and his wife left the Casino. I decided to color up and head out for dinner. It was at this point that I picked up the business card and found a $5000 Chip underneath.
I think I let out a fairly loud expletive. The Floor boss who was standing right there just started laughing and said that he thinks Mr. B likes me. Come to find out the Hilton loves to see Mr. B especially the Dealers. I went and cashed in my chips. It’s been a long time since I’ve had that many “Ben Franklin’s†in my pocket. So far the day has been Surreal. I was to find out that the night was to become Hilarious.
