Checked into the Borgata (Atlantic City) yesterday for the long July 4th weekend, more attendants and security guards then usual, plus cops were there too. When I valet parked, security guard asked to look into my cars trunk, I told her to go ahead. I had a bowling ball in the back seat on the floor in a canvas bag, she asked what it was and if she could look into the bag, I said of course. Now I'm a 70 year old of Polish descent so I sure don't look like the terrorist type, but it sure is good to know there are extra precautions being taken for our safety.

And when your bowling ball is liberated later you'll know who saved it

I went through a similar ordeal in the mid-2000's at Bellagio. Somebody's watching a bit too much Fox. If they really want to go down this path they would be better off putting metal detectors at all of the entrances. Hundreds of times more chance of being shot by a domestic than blown up by a foreigner.

Lots of tourist destinations will be in heightened alert for a holiday. I won't be shocked if there were specific targets they felt the need to monitor that end up revealed later.
