Scheduled: Tropicana demolition - October 9 2:30am

Just saw on the internet that the implosion of the Tropicana towers is set for Oct 2nd at 2am.

Which is really fricken awesome because Mrs PokerDog and I are already scheduled to be in Vegas Oct 1st - 5th and... our reservation is for a tower room at Luxor. Double fricken awesome, we're going to Vegas to celebrate her birthday which is... Oct 2nd!

Hopefully, early check-in and $20 will get us a view of the fun from our room.

 

Is there an official source or is it just rumor?

They've definitely been making good progress gutting the hotel towers.
They need to remove asbestos from areas of the main casino buildings that might slow that part down.

 

I was just looking for that myself. The only October date being batted around by actual news sources is October 20 when they have to have the demolition completed by, per their existing permits.

The Ballys folks are only saying it will happen sometime in either September or October.

I arrive early-afternoon on the 2nd. If this is the actual date and time I'm gonna miss it by about 11 hours...Shucks!

Is this a true confirmed date? I really would like to see the implosion and I was thinking getting a room at the Excalibur during this time would be perfect Resort tower strip view

There hasn't been any official word. I assume that is intentional to keep looking loos at bay but their current permit says it should be done by October 8.
