I think I'd like to visit Sams Town in December while I'm staying downtown. Are there any free shuttles I can use to get there and back?

Yup! There's a shuttle that runs between Sam's Town and Fremont/California. Here's the schedule. I took this picture at Sam's Town last week.

It's a great shuttle! When we stay at the Cal we always take the ST shuttle to Sam's to either gamble or go watch a movie! We then take the shuttle to Harrahs and spend some time on the Strip.

The shuttle bus is one of those big touring buses with plenty of comfortable seats. If you check the schedule closely, you can time it where you can take the shuttle to ST, get off and within 5 minutes board the other shuttle that goes to the Strip and vice versa all the way to Downtown if you choose to bypass visiting Sams Town.

You can catch it at the parking entrance of the Cal at Ogden. Or at the side entrance of Fremont along Casino Blvd. Or just ask at the Bell desk and they will help you.

Have Fun and enjoy your trip!

I won't be a guest of Boyds....I'm staying at the Plaza this trip. Do they check room keys or anything?

Never have for me. I've taken it as a Plaza guest before myself and no one said anything.

Never saw the driver ask for room keys or anything. The bus was never full. Most I've ever seen it was about half full.

I personally hope this shuttle never gets eliminated like the Rio shuttle lately. If you have time to kill it's a great way to get out and about.

I've used it as well... and while I was staying elsewhere too.
It was only about 25% occupied when I used it, so no - they didn't ask for a room key, or even if I was staying at the Cal.
(BTW - you do want to catch this at the Cal - not the Fremont)

Thanks for posting. Sam's Town has removed the shuttle schedule from their website.

Yes shuttle, but from experience, you REALLY need a car if staying at Sams Town.

It cost me about $16 each way using Uber. I had no need for a car. Shuttle to DT and Harrahs was just fine. Then again I'm not in a hurry.[emoji456]

Yes the only possible downside to the shuttle is time. If you're not in a hurry it's great! I like it because it gets me away from the tables when I'm taking a beating.

One time I took the ST shuttle to Sam's from Downtown, had a leisurely breakfast at their buffet, then caught the shuttle to Harrahs and cruised the Strip for a while. Then I took the Orleans shuttle (pickup is by the Linq High Roller) and played craps and took in a movie at the Orleans. I then backtracked to Downtown.

By then it was late afternoon and I was in the mood to seriously start my gambling again!

wow, that's a completely different schedule than the one they've had for years, and that late "downtown to harrahs" is new

Luggage is fine. They will put it under the bus in the compartment and retrieve it for you. Looks like they have cut the route as it used to be around 1 hour 15 minutes between departures. And yes, except the early morning bus from downtown, you USED to be able to arrive at ST and get off, reloading onto the waiting bus to go to the strip. It looks really much pared down from the original schedule. Too bad.

Although it appears possible the buses could run from downtown to SAMs town then to harrahs and return to downtown the same way. Buses used to just travel back and forth, not the whole route. Maybe the next rider could report if same route of different for the buses. Times are definitely fewer.

My BIL just told me that there's only one bus now that does the Downtown/Sam's Town/Harrahs loop. Previously there was a bus for the Sams to Downtown loop and a bus for the Sams to Strip loop.

He rode it this past Saturday 12/30.
