Just use common sense and you will be fine. If you feel better by all means get the Pepper Spray and carry it. Also when your walking in your group you can always stay close to another group of people. My buddy and I were walking from Golden Nugget downtown one time to the Bonneville Transit Center (this is when the other stops were closed due to road construction) and a group of 3 women in there 50's were behind us and they stayed close to us. I turned around and told them to walk with us, they thanked us once we got to the Transit Center. Just watch your surroundings and you will be fine.

Believe it or not the only time I am ever concerned is when we walk the strip early morning.

Being from east coast we are out about the time the sun starts coming up and people are [STRIKE]walking[/STRIKE] stumbling around in groups of 3-5. Some spots on the strip are narrow and can be a bit isolated at times. Other than that no concerns and feel safer there than most other places.

I have been to Las Vegas solo several times now. Never been mugged and never felt unsafe (except for one night, but I had a male friend with me at the time).

If you stick to the popular casinos and night spots, there's security all over the place.

Please be street-wise, don't go anywhere that isn't well lit or traveled, and don't fall for the common sucker tricks.

In most hotels, security will escort you to your room if you feel unsafe. I've never done this, but I've heard most will. Ditto if you feel unsafe walking to your car, or if you have a lot of $$$ on you.

My late aunt (MSRIP) always used to tell us that back in the Bad Old Days(tm) when the Mob Ran Vegas(tm), incidents of crimes against persons were extremely uncommon. If there were an incident, casino security would not bring in the local cops, but would have "Guido and the boys" track down the perps and have a "chat" with them! :)

I do know that there are occasional muggings, purse snatches, etc., in Las Vegas, but if you take the same precautions as you normally do, you won't be one of them. :)
