So... I just booked at room at Bally's from November 11-15 to take advantage of a slot tournament that week-end at the Rio and to celebrate my birthday. Vegas is my "happy" place so Happy Birthday to me. Then I found out it is also the weekend of the Rock and Roll Marathon. Has anybody been in Vegas when the Marathon was going on? Just wondering if this is something fun to watch or more of a pain in the ass with lots of extra people in town.

I was downtown in 2013 when they had it. It was fun watching it go by on Fremont St. If you're in town its definitely worth watching for a while.

I'm pretty sure they close down a good portion of the strip for the marathon so I would avoid going anywhere in a car during that time, I've talked to people who have told me that the streets just off the strip are clogged up pretty good and it takes a long time to get anywhere.

I have been there twice for this staying at Paris both times. Just plan on staying near Bally's that day (walking distance only) and it is fun to watch and I wouldn't think twice about being there that weekend.

There aren't that many extra people. Major pain is the Strip being closed down, along with feeder routes.

When is the slot tournament? They close the strip maybe around 2:00 if I remember correctly. The race is 4:30. I have done the half the past 7 years, last couple years it took a long time to get a cab at Flamingo around 7:00-7:30. So on that Sunday of the race, it would be best to stay close to Bally's after the strip closes.

Tournament is Saturday and Sunday. Not worried about Saturday but Sunday it starts at 10:am but I don't know what my time to play will be on Sunday till I register. I had planned on taking the shuttle from Bally's to the Rio. Well there is always a chance they will chance the location of the tournament or that they will finish it up before the strip closes. I tend to overthinko_O. Are you doing the race this year?
Well hell if I would have been paying attention I would have seen your countdown timer!
