    My Trip Report

Hey all, starting this thread 850 miles into our 1,000 mile road trip from our home on the Oregon coast to Vegas. GF started a new job, we love Vegas, and we love road trips, so here we are. We hit the road yesterday at 5:00 after work, driving through central Oregon to Winnemucca then down. GF was up early yesterday so she took the first sleep shift until 3:00 am, and I just woke up from my few hours of slumber (I swear, the first and only windy road on this trip happened right when I was trying to sleep). The "Federal Forests" here have, uh, a few less trees than Oregon....

For years I've only stayed at Caesars properties, but we have a few friends who like to stay downtown so we thought we'd try El Cortez for a couple days (I'd given them enough play last trip for a couple nights comped), then over to Caesars, where, oddly enough, I've never stayed (I'm usually at Harrahs or Planet Hollywood; creature of habit).

I'm an equal opportunity gambler: craps, BJ, roulette, VP, slots, and too often, drunk three card. I'll try to update when I can, probably pic heavy, and happy to try to answer any questions anyone has about Covid-Vegas.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

    Some beautiful scenery.

Yeah I’m probably the only one but I think I’d rather stay at the ELCo over Caesars.

Good idea, El Cortez is a good place to gamble, suggest you give The D & 4 Queens some play, Cesars is a cool hotel not so much for gambling, enjoy, looking forward to your TR.

El Cortez is my main hotel/casino when I go to Vegas, so I'm very interested in hearing any details of current conditions and, of course, seeing some nice jackpot photos!

    Good luck!

We made it! 14.5 hours, which is much better than Waze said, and with multiple stops. Can't check in yet, but GF and I are both up a couple hundred on the Far East wheel of fortune games.

Pleasantly surprised by the number of masks, even at slots. I'd say 40-50%, easy. Staff at both Club Cortez and hotel check in were really good about wiping down the patron area in between.

It's before noon, so I'm drinking red beer; I'm not a monster. [IMG]

Nice! I'll be following along - I'm flying in tomorrow night and staying Downtown for the weekend. Hopefully there will be lots of winning for all of us.

Played a bit at The D. I got some decent Zeus pays, and GF hit a bonus straight flush on BJ. I hit a 10x odds six at ElCo earlier, so the trip is starting off well.

They're really lax about the 21+ downtown rule, ie, they aren't checking IDs. The D also really strict about masks at tables, and a bunch of workers walking around sanitizing machines.

Running on three hours of sleep, so it's nap time.

Couple of "Premium Tower Room" pics before nap. I'm happy with it, especially comped. Bed is comfy.

Love the room pictures - haven’t seen this type of room at the El Co before. Might have to consider! Good luck!

I love those premium tower rooms at the ELCO.
I hope they don't let the rooms get trashed anytime soon.

That room looks tempting, especially at ElCo’s prices :) Best of luck the rest of the way

Yes, even if you do not get it comped, it is reasonable and they do run specials.

Post-nap action not as good, but still up on the trip. It's quite a bit more crowded; hard to find a table game seat. Increase in people also decreasing the percentage of people wearing masks.

Sitting down at Flock & Fowl right now. I've been here before and really enjoy it. Seems silly to call it a "hidden gem" since it's written up all over the place and on a bunch of lists, but it's always empty when I'm here.

Made it to Caesars, which promptly took a bunch of our money. But the room is great! Augustus Tower, Laurel whatever collection. Just hit a decent one, now in the cab on the way to Bazaar Meats.
