I'm sorry to report that a long-time VMB member and contributor passed away suddenly last week. Randy Gossett, screen names Peanutmnm and Roy L Flush (on some other boards) died on November 12. He went into the hospital for a "routine" heart procedure and had an allergic reaction to the medication. Without knowing that he was having an allergic reaction, they pumped more into him.

Randy loved the Colts, scotch, cigars, Vegas and golf (not necessarily in that order). Above all, he worshipped his wife and his kids. Nothing existed without them. I know he made some friends here so I wanted to make sure that you knew.

If you ever had the pleasure of partying in Vegas with Randy, you know that he set the bar for having fun. His daughter said to me, "We know he's in a better place." I responded, "Yes, but this place was better when he was in it."

I can't believe this was peanutmnm. I remember him from the old vegas talk board and he was a frequent poster. He was a pretty young guy from what I recall and I remember his fondness for good scotch and cigars and for his wife, who he always called his "little hottie" or something like that. This is really sad news, he was too young and seemed so full of life.

I had an ongoing Facebook conversation with Randy over the past few years and I'll really miss his posts about heading out to golf while I was freezing my ass off.

I loved how he always made fun of my drinking girlie drinks.

Truly one of the great guys, he will be missed.

Here are a few pictures of Randy from over the years:

I never had the pleasure of meeting Randy. We tried to meet up in Vegas several times but could never get our schedules to align. This is really sad news, he was much to young.

Please pass along our condolences to his wife and family. I know many here will miss him. And thank you for letting us know, Lori. A lot of members just seem to disappear and we (moderators) always wonder what has happened to them. In most cases we never find out.

I know what you mean, Beach. I'm a mod on another site and it drives me nuts when someone just disappears.

I will be providing links to all the threads about Randy on the different Vegas forum sites to his family. Most members' families don't know much about their on-line activities and friends. I think it's important for them to know that there were friendship and what people thought of their departed loved ones.

Thanks for sharing, Lori. Such sad news when we lose someone so young. Just a good reminder that nobody knows when their number is up. Live every day like it's your last, make the most of it, and let the people you love know it - every day.

I've been scanning over this board the last couple of days waiting for this post to come along. Frankly I'm a little surprised it didn't happen sooner.

I had the pleasure of crossing paths with Randy on a few trips, and sampled more than my fair share of premium spirits with him. Regardless of if it's pounding Cristal with BeeJay at Aria, sampling a Pappy Van Winkle line of bourbon in the Mirage high limit lounge, or having a quick drink at the Mansion, we always had a good time.

Vegas lost a little something with his passing. I have a lot of fond memories of Vegas that included him. Here are some of my pics with him:

My first meet with Peanut at MikeE's MGM Skyloft party:

Randy artfully trying to dodge my camera angle at the Mirage high limit area:

The spirits he was kind enough to share with a few of us in his Mirage Penthouse while on vacation with his lovely wife:

My fat/drunk/happy ass did manage to get him to finally swap out his signature scotch for some tequila:

And like BeeJay, Randy made fun of me drinking "girly drinks" as well. Here's one from MB that he took with my camera, while teasing me about drinking from a straw:

Airball, I apologize for taking so long. I'm not a frequent poster here and I knew that he was friends with some of the regulars. I waited to see if anybody was going to post, as I was trying not to step on anyone's toes. After a week, I figured it was ok for me to put something up (with Sonya's permission, of course).

Devestating turn of events for ol' Pnutter. Having known him from many Vegas boards & his frequent exploits and wonderful expressions of love for wife and family (loved his "canoodling" comment) :nworthy: He and I shared a conversation many times on the old interwebs. At a meet that I wasnt able to attend, I had his cell number and gave hima crank call around cocktail hour while he was in his beloved Vegas. Throught the clamor of the casino I said " This is McGarret from 5-0 HPD " HIs beloved family was still at home; I believe he thought his young ones had gotten into mischief...and thought i was actual Police....We got a lot of laughs for many years.

    He will be sorely missed

    Hummel?

I believe Pnutmnm was the writer of a trip report that included a night downtown of casino hopping with a group that included Hummel. Hummel (I think that was his name), was a homeless person whom Pnutmnm befriended early that night. I forget the particulars of the befriending, but the group bought drinks and gave gambling money to Hummel all night long. If I remember right, at one point in time they ended up at the Western.

The story was quite amazing, and unfortunately it had a sad ending as to the best of my knowledge, Pnutmnm never ran across Hummal again.

If anyone remembers this story, I would like to know who else was in that group that night if anyone remembers.

    Hipple

If i recall correctly it was Hipple; they met him on Fremont Street, walked a bit; bought Pizza and played some blackjack. Gave him a few bucks and was pretty much not seen again.

The crew was Randy and VegasJunkie and if I am not mistaken another 2 members from old LVtalk board.

It is one of the most classic TR i remember reading. Dont know if it can be found on the 'net but well worth the time....:nworthy:

That's a real shame, I'm sorry to hear about it. He was very kind to me back on past boards I was on. He even sent me a few things for my old Vegas Xmas tree back when I used to do the big full sized one. I'll be thinking of his family.
