I've got a quick solo trip planned in aug, I want to seed the new Palms and see what sort of offers might come our way. My wife and I stopped there about a month ago, and we were both impressed with the Palms....
Anyway, I figured I'd stay at the Rio, nice and close to Palms, and across the street from Goldcoast...
What is the difference in rooms as is listed on the website for Rio? My comped rooms appear in this order, Deluxe Suite( different views), then Deluxe Masquerade(different views), then Luxury masquerade (assorted views) then Premium Masquerade (assorted views)....they all appear to be the same size, same amenities, etc...only the views appear to change
From reading other reports, it seems most people suggest the Ipanema tower, is there any way to tell which class of room is in that tower? Or is it just a big crapshoot? I am a diamond, but I won't arrive until after 8 pm on a Tuesday, and I have a sneaking suspicion the diamond check in room will be closed by then and I may be stuck with what I booked....
Oh, and no need to warn me about how bad the rooms are or the services there.....I worked in camps and stayed in hotels/motels all over the oilpatch. All I need is place to lay my head down, I don't care if the room is pretty and pristine.....lol

Diamond check in closes at 8 but regular desk can make "adjustments" to the assigned room
If it says masquerade in the description it's in the masquerade tower

Don't worry about check in lines as Rio will be a ghost town after 8 on a Tuesday. If you go to Youtube there are lots of videos on the different rooms at Rio. All the rooms are worn and dated, after that it's a crap shoot on condition no matter which tower they are in. Some are acceptable and some are kind of gross, the one thing in your favor is if you get a gross one there will be lots of available rooms to switch you to on a Tuesday.

There was a recent report with photos of a Rio room that was astonishing! Scuffed-up furniture and such, typical of a no-tell motel!

One nice thing about the ipanima rooms since they haven't been remodeled in ages is the ac has not been updated to include the motion sensors so the rooms can get cool
If distance is not a problem try to get one in the 80's

I have stayed recently in two ipanima rooms. One was a bit nicer. According to the bellman, the inpanima rooms are nicer than the masquerade rooms. Plus, the ipanima rooms are closer to the casino and to get out the door to go to Gold Coast.

Rio is a disappointment for sure. The price is cheap, here 7 nights for $48. Most restaurants are closed, video poker is bad, and the bartenders have all these rules about comp drinks. Diamond drink vouchers don't work for many drinks at the bar. Next door at Gold Coast, I don't have any problems. Good video poker and easy to get drinks. Gold Coast has good restaurants that are open.

I don't understand what Rio is doing. Not many people in the casinos, restaurants closed, the rooms are dated (but large), the parking garage is dirty with sketchy people walking around. Gold Coast is like a different county, so much better.

To sum up, stay at Rio and walk over to Gold Coast. Will be staying at Gold Coast next month for the first time. After a few hours of play, I logged on my Boyd account and already had 3 nights free.

In my not so humble opinion, one of the best "features" of the Rio is the easy access to Gold Coast!

It's easy to understand what Rio is doing. Caesars sold it in 2019 but has the right to operate it until 2023 when Hyatt takes over and probably guts the place. Caesars has no reason to put a cent into a place they are going to be out of in a year, so they are operating it in a bare bones manner and will leave the new owners with a run down facility with a bad reputation.

Types of rooms... pretty much all the rooms are Pet Stay rooms, even though most of the rooms have never seen a dog. I feel sorry for the bartenders having to charge what they do and comping Mr. Boston. They do have 7/5 Bonus ( triple spin poker) at the Shutters Bar - not great, but better than most CET properties. Fortunately, the lease is near its end and I think the new owners can start making improvements in 2023 (while it's still under lease).

Masquerade Tower has some very very crappy rooms. Crappy as in a Motel 6 outside of Lubick Texas would be preferable. The tower does however have some really great suites. If you're not in a suite, definitely take the Impanema Tower. I've only had perfectly acceptable rooms there. Room names usually only distinguish the type of view.

Thanks all for the info, just decided to book the highest level comp room available to me (Premium Masquerade, strip view) and let the chips fall where they may.....Actually, for a few days NO rooms at the Rio showed as comped at all (they all showed as "promo" on the booking calendar), yet I still had comp rooms at all other hotels in Vegas except NOBU, I thought WTF is going on, they wanna charge me for their cheapest rooms in Vegas???? It just must have been a glitch, eventually the comp rooms at Rio reappeared....so I booked one!

Distance is no problem, what is better about the rooms in the "80"s?

They tend to be some of the least abused rooms especially if you can get one on the "old diamond floors"
As they are at the end of a long hallway most people ask for near elevator.
Less hallway drunks to wake you up Best strip view in that tower
Just make sure you keep your drapes closed during day in non strip view rooms as they face SW
