I live in LV, but work out of town. Every other Friday I trek to Rio for Three Card Poker, lunch and to pick up the locals gift if it is desirable. Got there about 10am Friday...had watched the news about the big Labor Day crowds and roads were very busy. Walking in, I was thinking of my back-up plan if the table was full. Got to the gaming floor...completely dead without even one TCP table open for business. Walked to the Palms to enter my football contest picks. The pool area and east tower are still completely torn up. To their credit, the noise level inside the casino has abated although there still is a covered construction walk-way on the west side entrance. I think the construction will impact if you were to get a room in the wrong spot. Still would recommend avoiding. Back to the Rio at 11:20...still no tables available. Caught the eye of the pit boss and asked if TCP was going to be open today...he said yes at noon. I mentioned, in a nice way, "It is a holiday weekend you know." He was somewhat embarrassed and said there is nothing he can do, it is staffing cutbacks which he repeated twice. So I skipped playing there at all. Picked up my Dirt Devel spray floor mop and went home. The good news, with that give-a-way, Christmas shopping for my wife is complete!!!
