It's me half venting, and half "wow" that happened to me last night. Summary: I flopped quads and still got eliminated.

The tourney we play in my group's monthly home game is 20k chips and 40 min levels. We had 2 tables (19 players), and down to 12 players when this hand takes place (both tables 6-handed).

Hero down to about 8k in the 400/800 level (we don't do antes) and wakes up UTG with pocket 9s, and happily gets the chips in with 10BB's and a jump to 500/1000 in under five minutes. A player in mid position makes the call, everyone else folds, Villain tables AK suited. A classic coinflip.

Flop: 99K (please ship me the pot)
Turn: K (at this point the other table stops to watch what could be the spectacle of the evening)
    River: K

Hero faints and wakes up a few minutes later with no chips and a strong taste of whisky on his breath.

    What can you do? Nothing.

Back in the day playing online I won a runner-runner straight flush to beat a flopped quads on a limit poker game. It was brutal - in my favor!

All trip reports on this site should have this comment on at least one day.

TRN, that is … well, I won't write that word here.

I once got knocked out of a tournament when my pocket Kings flopped KQQ only to have a woman hit a runner-runner royal. The room went wild. I went home.

runner runner royal (and runner runner straight flush from spicole) may win the prize then... I've played a lot of poker and always see crazy stuff, but never seen an accidental SF/RF lol

The plus side of having that happen in a home game is it wouldnt even qualify for most bad beat jackpots.

Upside of getting knocked out, is you can concentrate on your drinking :)

Once observed a cash game result in a casino, everything open to pay bad beat. TT v AA: flop: ATT, turn: A river ...who cares? Approximately $3000 in pot...players splitting $25000+ bad beat Jackpot.

I messed up the cooler deck last night. TRN, you were supposed to get the four Kings.

    Terribly sorry;)

Sounds like you pissed off the poker gods at some juncture of the tourney. You will never live it down either, at least 4 times a year you will have to hear the story as they laugh hysterically at your misfortune

Oh they've already named the hand (99) after me and will be giving out an award in my honor at each month's game... because that's the stupid shit that happens when you play with a bunch of middle aged guys who think they're still in college.

I just hope that got it all out of my system and the cycle goes UP from here, as I head into LV. At least by June :)
