    My Trip Report

My wife and I went to Encore Boston Harbor the other day. It was our 1st trip to a casino since they reopened. The casinos in MA were allowed to reopen a little over a week ago. Encore reopened on July 12.
We went last Monday, July 20. We pulled into their big garage around 12:15 pm. The garage was practically empty. Only 4 people are allowed on the garage elevators that bring you to the casino. Upon entering the casino you are checked by casino staff to make sure you have a mask on and to take your temp. If you don't have a mask, they will give you one. Masks are required by law in MA by the way.
We 1st walked around the casino to see the changes. Plexiglass was everywhere. And I do mean everywhere! It was on the tables and on the slot machines. Every other slot and video machine was also shut off. No poker room yet! Hand sanitizers were plentiful. In the Mens Room, every other sink and urinal had covers over them. The buffet, a coffee shop called Bru and some other restaurants have not reopened yet. Bummer! I like Bru. You did see some employees wiping surfaces down with disinfectant. Around every 15 minutes Encore reminded everyone over the PA to keep their masks on. Wherever there was a line, like at the slot club for example, there were marks on the floor to keep people 6 feet apart. So, Encore seems to be taking the COVID-19 issue seriously.
Encore used to have a large video poker area with lots of machines. And they were busy! It's now gone. Big time bummer! I loved this area. Now it's full of card tables. I asked an employee where did all the video poker games go. He said they moved them to the 2nd floor. Yes, they did. They put them where the poker room was. All the poker tables were moved somewhere? BUT, the large number of video poker games they had pre shutdown are gone. It's like they took 50 to 60% of the games away. I REALLY HOPE this is just a temporary move until things settle down.
We played video poker for around 5 hours. The drink service was very good. For supper we went to their sports pub. It's pricy, but good. Our waiter said that he used to be just a bartender at the pub, but he now still does that and is waiter for 4 tables. He said Encore said this is just a temporary thing.
After supper we played for another hour before we went home.
When we were leaving, Encore was busier than when we 1st got there, but it was by no means busy.
We had a fun time, but Encore was the winner. We didn't have a winning trip.

I was supposed to go to Boston, AC, and Philadelphia until they started imposing 14 day self-quarantine on CA residents.

    Thanks for the TR

Well, Canada and Massachusetts are closed, back to Lake Tahoe
Oh what the heck, I've got vacation and myVegas points to burn. . . .

Very informative about the VP at EBH. I had heard that the poker room was (temporarily, we can only hope) reappropriated, but not that the VP selection had been decimated. Hopefully, the paytables did not also take a dive.

Oh darn, I really enjoyed the VP setup. Hope it returns.

I totally understand most of the changes they made but I’ll probably wait until some of the other table games return before making the trip.

    Thanks for report!

    Nice report!

Did you notice if bartops all off or just select ones?

I went to two different Indiana casinos last night and one had them all voluntarily off.

That’s a nice picture of the Encore, for a second I was asking myself is that the vegas one ?? LOL I was in the vegas encore over the fourth and I would describe the casino pretty much as you described the Boston one, a lot of plexiglass going on.

I noticed that the Center Bar with its video poker was closed. So NO video poker at all for that bar. I don't believe bars are allowed to open in Massachusetts yet.
