Exactly what I was saying, @hail2skins! It seems like they COULD do 4-5 floors a month. Winter is not even cold in Vegas, so they could theoretically make progress.

Where are we on The Drew? Any updates?

Nothing since late June, when the owner anticipating closing on the construction loan by the middle of next year. Until then, I don't expect any significant activity at the Fontainedrew.

Oh yeah, I remember that. Thanks for the memory refresher :) They definitely won't be ready by 2020!

It's not the cold, it's rain that screws up projects.

That's true. Perfect example is the new Rams stadium in Inglewood/LA. Because we had a really bad rainy season when the project first started, it delayed the project a year from 2019 to 2020.
The problem was the timing, the stadium was in the process of laying down the pipes underground, but because of the rain those few weeks it caused flooding. So it took awhile for the saturation to finally dry up and then proceeded to continue the project.
But the timing, even just for a few weeks, set the project back a year. The Rams and LA Coliseum made a deal to extend the contract through 2019.

The new Stadium now looks incredible, the indoor/outdoor roof is now being installed..........thanks to the Drones.

I think the new Raiders stadium will be fine because the parking lot is not near Imperial Palace.......LOL.

It's starting to look like a real resort tower!

Does anyone know how many stories it's going to be? Another poster said 60 so not even half way.

Let's hope not, but this sure has a ring of the excitement which brewed as the renovation and anticipated opening of the Grand downtown. Exciting from an architectural or engineering point of view but I hope this doesn't evolve into an unrealistic thread which is bound to disappoint.
It happened to me as well with the downtown project. I see similarities here. Hope not!

There hasn't been a new property opened on the Strip since Cosmo in 2010, so its nice to finally see construction activity at this site, especially since groundbreaking on the site happened three years ago. And people have said that more properties on the Strip should be good for the consumer, particularly if Genting continues ownership. That said, my hopes for this place being any sort of game-changer are not high at all. Expect high resort fees and mediocre gaming rules. Also, ever since the Bellagio opened 20 years ago, I wondered how much nicer can they really make these places?

As for downtown, I still don't see why DTG doesn't get more activity in the casino, being only a mere block away from Fremont. Its like too many folks don't know its there. I am really looking forward to see what Derek Stevens does with 18 Fremont at the LVC site.

I totally agree. It had been awhile other than refurbishing there was little development downtown. I hope for the best but don’t expect a game changer over all. Multiples properties are good. So I’ve heard.

I am just excited for more things in Vegas. The Drew, Resorts World, 18 Freemont, etc. Wynn Paradise or whatever it is called. More fun, more new things to see.

I would like less shopping or whatnot. I don't mind them in general, but I am in Vegas to drink and play, not shop. I think THAT could be arranged better. The mall (or whatever it is called) is perfect. How they have it between Bally's and Paris is perfect too. Not a fan of the Bazaar shops - bit annoying with a guy coming up to me every few minutes.

I agree completely.. More resorts are awesome..
I also wish they would scale back on the shops. I want casinos, bars, shows, etc. not shopping malls.
My perfect Vegas would be to bring back and make more themed casinos.."Glitz and Glamour" is not a theme.

Bring it on. Cannot wait to see that area further developed. More reason to walk the strip during day drunk events.
