I have a comp 3-night stay at the Mirage coming up February 9-12. I redeemed it through the myVegas app.

Is there a way to get The Mirage to waive the resort fee if I don't use the WIFI and the other amenities?

You can ask, but I can pretty much guarantee they’ll say no. You agreed to pay the resort fees both when you purchased the reward in the app and when you booked the stay on the Mirage’s website... so you went into the stay knowing these fees would apply.

I'm aware of that, just asking because I've seen Youtube videos where people say the resort fees aren't always mandatory when being comped.

Personally, I’ve never heard of that for comps at MGM properties through MyVegas. I have heard of it for Wynn/Encore stays through the Wynn Slots app.

I’ve redeemed five stays at MGM properties through MyVegas and the resort fees were always initially assessed, no mention of a waiver on account of the comp.

Well if your play earns it a host will remove the charges at the end of your stay.

They are mandatory at Mlife properties with MyVegas comps, as ridiculous as that is. They are not mandatory at Wynn with the Wynn Slots app - however they will make you pay for internet if you choose to use it.

The videos you saw were probably of people getting comped rooms through play. MGM offers for players sometimes come without resort fees. I am almost certain you will have to pay them unless your play warrants having them removed when you check out.

Wynn has set the resort fee as optional for every guest. But if guests forgo the resort fee
    • Wifi is at a fee PER DEVICE ... two phones in a room.... a phone & tablet.... two fees
    • Fitness center requires fee
    • When they started optional resort fees, they told me parking fees apply, even for registered guest.... I think thats changed.
The wifi fees on 2 devices alone were same as a resort fee, and I use the fitness center....

You don’t always get resort fees on direct/Corp offers through Mlife, but MyVEGAS will probably be mandatory. BUT if you don’t have a host, you can always go by the Mlife desk at Mirage, the day you leave or the night before you leave, and ask them if you can speak to an on-call host, to see if they can remove the fees on the backend.

FYI this will be play-based, and backend comps are tough, but it’s worth asking...worst they say is no. We have had things removed doing it this way, even without a host.

If it were that easy to remove the resort fee, the 7,832,743 postings slamming it would not exist.

Those charges are part of their business and they are not going to just waive it. Most folks that get comp rooms due to play still pay the resort fee. (those with stronger play get it waived).
