Reflections on My Vegas Residency: An Alpert Report

A Thanksgiving wish for you…

I would like to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving 2024!



I’m thankful for all of you and for your kindness and online camaraderie here—including putting up with me over the handful of years I’ve been on the Board!

I have been challenging myself to find new ways to make a positive impact on my community. Today I purchased three blankets to share with local people in need.



As I was out and about today I was able to share them with two gentlemen and a lady who were living on the streets or at the edge of the “wash.”



All were appreciative to receive the blankets and it was a pleasure to have the chance to meet and spend time talking with them all.

I asked the second gentleman I met if I could take a picture of the little Christmas tree he had set up near his makeshift tarp-tent.



I share this with you not to toot my own horn, but rather to hopefully inspire you to reach out to a cause near to your own heart and to make a difference in your neck of the woods.

We had a nice Vegasgiving!

I started the day out with delivering a blanket at sunrise, followed by some neighborhood clean-up.





Our guests arrived at LAS. After picking them up we treated them to Thanksgiving dinner at a Black Bear Diner. I had the fish, mashed potatoes, and onion rings. (Plus Minion #3’s potatoes and my bride’s stuffing.). Everyone else dined on turkey and/or ham.





After chilling at the Alpert Mansion for awhile we took our guests for a brief visit to the Strip. We attempted to park at Bellagio, but self-park was full so we parked at The Cosmopolitan. The three hours of free parking for locals is nice!







We saw the last fragment of a fountain show, took in the Conservatory decor, trammed to Crystals, and purchased tall nightcaps for some at Fat Tuesday.















We are looking forward to attending the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert this afternoon.

 

We had a blast at the TSO show!















Our guests were shocked to find a Fuddruckers that was still in business, so they didn’t mind the wait.

 

How nice to see you showing your guests around LV. I haven’t been to The Orleans since the pandemic. They used to have my favorite breakfast buffet. Sadly that is just a memory now.

 

Thank you, @AlwaysUpForFun! The Orleans was sure busy last night! I never had the pleasure of visiting it, but I bet that buffet was pretty good!

 

My bride chauffeured the houseguests out to Saturday brunch and shopping so I headed out to spruce up the path to Wienerschnitzel and back!

 

Happy Thanksgiving! I've seem TSO twice and would go again in a heartbeat! SO much energy!

It was a great show and the arena at The Orleans was a fantastic venue with great acoustics.

I forgot about Fudruckers at the Orleans! They are all gone in Chicagoland, but Jack in the Box is making a return to the area next year LOL
