Stayed Sat through Tues nights. I didn't ask for a room facing away from Fremont, as I was checking in at night at didn't want to be difficult. Oddly, although I was on 21st floor...I could still hear music. Thanks to this board though I knew it could happen. First night I was so exhausted went to sleep immediately. 2nd night out very late, so it didn't matter. Last night....I couldn't sleep until it stopped after 1am. Foam ear plugs did nothing. Be warned.

Thanks to everyone who suggested the Rush Tower. Very comfortable bed. Deep tub. Hot water. Fast elevator. Clean. Lots of outlets on nightstands next to bed. I never saw staff at the Rush tower checkin area...always a sign to go to another tower. Would have been nice to have checked in there. Great stay and highly recommend if staying downtown.

First time at the Wynn! Downtown gambling though

I was disapointed about the check in last time I stayed also. Did see it open one time.

My last three stays at the Rush Tower, there was no one at that checkin.

Had to go to the cattle call in main lobby.

It truly is a screwed up system, although I did score a free upgrade in August.

I was in the Rush tower last spring, got the 5th floor facing the canopy. No noise but a terrible view. Only noise was from the pool in the morning.

If they would put in even decent video poker, I would love the Nugget!

Sadly this has been the case for several years. It used to be open pretty much every day, for most of the day, then they cut it down to just weekends, at abbreviated hours, and finally to hardly ever open at all. I stayed in those rooms for years, and loved them, but the closing down of the Rush Tower check-in, as well as the little VIP room by the gift shop, was the first of the many cutbacks in service that were to come over the next several years. In fact, it was the first really significant one that I noticed. I really enjoyed staying at the GN for many trips, over a ten year period, but they just kept cutting, cutting and cutting back on things like this, the spa, the buffet etc. that I finally had enough. Its too bad because I think those Rush Tower rooms are by far the best downtown...

I miss the GN, but not enough to feel like I am missing out on a square deal there anymore.

    Same as that, Mike.

Now I can generate comps on the strip, it just makes no sense for me to stay there, even though I love the place.

I'm paying <$900 for 4 weeks on the strip this summer, which is ~$300 less than I was paying to stay in the Rush Tower for the first 10 nights.

I also will likely get a rebate of ~$500 in FP/RC from my strip hotels, too.

Back to Nomad for a longer stay

All very true, and maybe the GN cutbacks amount to more, but it's not like the other properties aren't cutting back too! Caesars had two VIP check in areas also (Diamond and 7 Stars), and they reduced those to one, similar to GN reducing theirs to one (they still has a VIP check in near the main entrance).

Cutbacks are a way of life in LV casino/hotels.... everything down to the pens! (which by the way, haven't been cut (yet) at GN, unlike other places).
