    My Trip Report

Welcome back to another Nevyn trip report.

This will be a short midweek trip. Some poker, some blackjack, a little VP, and whatever coupons are leftover from my February trip.

Other things to (likely) come: dinner at Prime and Matteo’s, breakfast at Bouchon, and a Jim Gaffigan performance

Hotel choice for this trip is based on the ever wise decision of trying to ‘collect’ all the strip hotels over time.

So this trip wins the booby prize where I knock Excalibur off the list. MyVegas freeplays may cover my room rate and a lot of the resort fee, but while I’m looking forward to the trip I’d be lying if I said I had high expectations for the hotel.

Thankfully for the last night we will move a little upscale and stay at Palazzo on an Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts rate.

I stayed at Excalibur during my quest to stay at every hotel. I remember that the alarm went off because I forgot to check if it was set and all the buttons were stuck and then I accidentally knocked the phone over and the receiver was stuck to the handset. It was pretty fucking disgusting. But I got to cross it off and never had to stay there again so winner

I've heard some decent things about Excalibur lately. Better kept up than Luxor and such...so there's that.

Excalibur and Palazzo are some of the few Strip hotels still left on our list, and we have already resigned ourselves to Excalibur for some future weekend at some point.

Nice plans! Where are you playing poker besides Venetian (I assume)? I enjoyed playing at mgm but I don’t know if they have a poker room anymore. I hope they do!

Excal is okay if you go in not expecting much. I did like the steak house, the layout of the casino, proximity to NYNY ( you can zip through and take a shortcut through the Hershey store to get to street level quickly) and the Krispy Kreme. I will say the water was a bit grody for drinking, so maybe pick up a case of water. Have a great time! Love a quick n cheap trip!

@Nevyn for some reason when I quote your post, the Billy Madison/Steve Buscemi gif doesn't come up, but clap clap clap, great reference.

Taking advantage of the free wifi.

in comfort plus which thus far doesnt quite live up to the name. Carry on barely squeezed in. Light panel so far from aisle seat it just illuminates middle seats head. And this is the 3 big guy row which had my shoulder into the aisle for 60 bumps from later. boarders.

But theres legroom and snacks and beer, sooo

That was a wildly uncomfortable comfort plus seat. No issues with leg room but hardly any back padding and firm rails on either side of the natrow back. Leaning away from big guy in the middle had my right side oressed against a hard natrow surface for 4 hours.

Have to see if i can move the seat of the return flight.

But on the plus side they fly this route way quicker than they used to. 4 hours flat and the trip out is usually the slow one

Mobile check in parked me on the 2nd floor. 2 queen was cheaper at booking and didnt bother changing it.

Room looks ok at first glance. Basic, loud ac but otherwise reasonable

Excalibur was the very first place I stayed in Vegas way back in the day (the rooms were still very castle-y), so it's been off my list for a long time.

Right on! Looking forward to following along! Interested to see your final impressions of the room at Excalibur. I've never stayed there, but it's always there for a 4 night comp including weekends. I'm toying with the idea of staying there the end of October as my all-in price for 4 nights is $170 vs $1080 at the usual Park MGM.

Ive been hoarding bellagio room comp dollars for a couple trips so there.

Venetian is a maybe for Thursday afternoon. I have a show and then TI blackjack that night, but depending on how the early play goes i could drop in for a couple hours just to check out the new room

IMG_2841.jpeg After the near instant soup delivery the prime rib felt like it took awhile. Here now and good.

Not the bargain it once was but the half off coupon helps, and way nicer than the steak soecial

Won 5 bucks playing vp for the slot match, got a 15 match and made 5 bucks out of that. Up 10 on that coupon. Covers the ride here more or less. Down early, win it all back then it disappears
