I am staying at PH in May, and the Cabanas and daybeds are actually really affordable on the website. It seems to be worthwhile if a few of us are going to have a pool day to spend the $100 for a home base so to speak. What is the real cost? Are there taxes and built-in tips? Will there be a lot of pressure to buy a lot of food and beverages? I know some properties just have a minimum spend, but that doesn't seem to be the case at PH. Not much of a pool person, so this is all new to me.

If you can rent a cabana for a hundred dollars do it.

Never rented one but $100 for a Cabana sounds like a steal.. I'm sure there are some fees and maybe a minimum spend you'd have to meet. But I can't say for sure.

Going thru their terms and conditions for a random weekday, it looks like they tack on taxes, processing fees, and a 18% tip for just the reservation. I've never gotten a cabana at PHo before, but, like you said, it appears there is no minimum spend.

If it's like most pool cabanas though, the server will keep coming around to check on you to see if you want drinks or food. Just guessing though, I'd believe they will continue the mandatory 18% tip onto the bill for any food or drink ordered. Still, our group finds it cheaper than losing money at the tables, even when we do drink and eat at the pool all afternoon.

$100 is very reasonable if you can get it.... probably the best way to enjoy the PH pool.

I'd go for it. At this price, I would reserve one each weekday for a place to hang out. As many have mentioned, a couple of hundred spent on a cabana and drinks (I assume you may buy a few of them) can easily be lost in an afternoon of gambling!

We've done cabanas at the Tropicana (nice but overpriced for what you get) and Cosmo (a good deal because it was a minimum spend only; with drinks and food, it was easily met). We have also done daybeds at the Sky Pool at Aria (expensive but very nice). Any of them enhance a pool day for us. I can't just hang at a pool; having the TV allows me to do something when I get bored with a book.

    Have fun!

Do you recall how much the min spend at the Cosmo was?

Looking back at the last "free" Cabanas I got, they were costing me around $1,000 each. $200 is optional food and drink, and money lost in the casino to get them comped.

    LOL

As to being "pressured to get food and drink. None at all. They come around and you order if you want.

    At roughly $130 that's a steal!
plus - 10 waters and a fruit platter, even better.

It was somewhere around $300. We were at the quieter pool. Reaching $300 over about six hours with four people was pretty easy.

I would agree. It might seem really crazy, but once you are out there living the "good life", you really don't care and just go for it. Food and drinks delivered while you are outside in your private little hot shot cabana all seems great.
