In today's (5/22) LVA's Question of the Day it stated about casinos reopening or even permanently closing that "The Lakeside at Stateline (Lake Tahoe) was an early casualty and the Rampart in Summerlin seems to be heading in that direction."

I know on VitalVegas.com they hinted that Rampart may not reopen until October.

Does anybody have any insights to the situation?

The Rampart Casino attached to the JW Marriott recently laid off it's entire staff, so it appears they will be closed for an extended time, or could perhaps close permanently?

Only been in there a few times. Last time was maybe ten years ago. It was afternoon and I was starved. The LVA had a buffet coupon, so I headed to the only lunch buffet I can recall. Bad mistake. It made the old Terribles buffet seem like a gourmet experience. Played a bit in the casino, but never felt the vibe. Hopefully they'll survive though.

Not that this means anything, but I got an email from them yesterday.

We have missed you during this challenging time and are so excited to welcome you back and serve you again soon.

We are currently abiding by the Governor’s state closure order and are still temporarily closed. We understand that the health of our community and our team is a top priority, and we will do everything we can to ensure your safety when we open our doors.

In the meantime, keep a lookout for an email with new, exciting online games coming your way soon!

I had an email this morning from Rampart inviting me to their “Welcome back winner’s bash” and it said, “opening soon.” No dates of course, but it certainly appears they are going to reopen when they can.

When they reopen give Rampart another try. They upgraded most (if not all) of their restaurants and the Sunday morning brunch buffet satisfies my "bagels, lox, cream cheese, tomato and chives" cravings.

I ate at the coffee shop a couple times and found it to be good. Comped after playing $5 bj for a couple hours.

I ate at Hawthorne's a few times and it varied from good to very, very good. They had a longstanding promotion where you could trade in a certain amount of same day points for a dinner comp at a few of their restaurants, including Hawthorne's, that I thought was a good deal. I only stayed at Rampart once, but I enjoyed the room and the comparative quiet of the resort in the middle of a long trip staying Downtown. I hope they come back.

Still somewhat of a disconnect between the Marriott-run resort and the locals casino. We've stayed there many times.

Very nice property, excellent selection of places to eat and a lot of video poker. No complaints other than it is about a 40mn drive for us.

Received an email from Rampart. They will reopen on Thursday June 4th at 10:00am.

Guess LVA and Vital Vegas were wrong about them being on the verge of closing.

    lol

That place has been "on the ropes" according to any number of sources since not long after the resort originally opened and then nearly cratered. That whole thing was high end when it opened as a combined operation. Bad timing. Probably didn't properly assess the available market, either.

The casino is very busy when we drop in when staying at Suncoast.

Yep. When they tapped the seniors/locals and put in market-appropriate eats it stabilized that part of the operation.

We had the craps table to our selves in February just before lunch. We only played for an hour and left to have lunch at the Fat Greek. (sp) Checked it off the list. Nice staff.

Got that e-mail too. They do appeal to a very old demographic. We aren't in that age group, but did have reservations to stay at the hotel for the first week of the NCAA tournament. Probably will give that another try for next year...hotel and groups are very nice.
