Per Bleacher Report...NFL Owners approve Raiders move to Las Vegas!
yep. per nfl.com
one team voted against- Miami (per Adam Schefter)
It also came out this morning that the public funds will be increased by $200M and the cost of the stadium will be reduced by $200M (yeah right).
Like I need another excuse to go to Vegas, but I sure hope the Browns play on the road in LV the inaugural season in that stadium.
Here we go! Love it! Las Vegas Raiders. My favorite team meets my favorite city.
Now expand the rail over there and on the other end to go by wynn/encore
Given that they want to have this stadium ready NLT the 2020 football season, when do you think that a) the location will be finalized and b) construction will start?
Get ready to grab them ankles LV tax payers.
Fixed it for you. The tax has been in effect since the first of this month on all hotel rooms.
All the renderings I have seen puts the location pretty much directly behind Mandalay Bay and Luxor. Not to be a stickler, but wouldn't that make them the Paradise Raiders? I'm sure they will suck in the Las Vegas name just like the strip property's even though none of them are actually in Las Vegas.
I've always been annoyed by it being a Chicagoan. I'll meet people abroad and say I'm from Chicago only to hear "So am I!" I ask what side of town and they say Lombard IL. Close enough I guess LOL
So glad I don't travel to Vegas during football season.
It's bad news for low rollers. It's going to harder to get comps during the slow winter season.
Wow, overthinking that a bit? We live a couple hundred yards outside of our town, in the unincorporated county. No one seems to get flummoxed or confused when we use the city's name when people ask where we live. Ever seen the municipal boundaries of Los Angeles? That's why most everything in So Cal between Thousand Oaks, the San Gabriel Valley and Orange County is called LA.
So, let's see, how many "NY" teams over the years didn't play in NY? Where do the "San Francisco" 49ers play? Etc.
One of the things about this move I've not heard much chatter on is that now "Los Angeles" fans will have three effectively home teams for which to root. From zero to three in a few years? Overkill the NFL can do!!
Find it quite a shame personally. Guess the UK is different as we grow up with local football teams which are part of the identity of the area.
One football (soccer) team moved a few years ago and there was complete hell up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relocation_of_Wimbledon_F.C._to_Milton_Keynes
Guess money talks in Vegas I just find it pretty sad.
It's not Vegas, it is the NFL. The NFL is about money, Kevin. That is everything. The league office and the owners can spin things any way they want, but the bottom line is every last dime for the league and every last dime for the owners, and fans be damned.
Didn't think about that...genius way to bring more traffic into the city during slow periods
Whats over thinking? Stating the obvious? The Las Vegas raiders wont be playing in Las Vegas. Its a true statement that no one else made. Does it happen in other places for major teams? Absolutely! That doesn't make it any less true. The only one overthinking my statement appears to be you. Just curious if they will hang a silly overreaching moniker on the Raiders ala The Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim!
Fun Fact, only 1 NFL team actually plays in the State of New York. Give up? The Buffalo Bills!
Separate names with a comma.
