New show will open Oct 24, wont be a traditional Cirque show but more of a movie stuntman show( fire scenes car/motorcycle races, fight scenes, no poetic or abstract storyline but a scenario written by Robert Rodriguez

R U N stands for (ARE YOU IN)

On our last day on Tuesday of last week a bunch of people were hanging our in front of the old Criss Angel theatre with laptops which had a variety of mock ups of renovated entrances to the theatre. I was trying to be a fly on the wall and listen in but they were quite secretive and kept obscuring the laptops.

Chris Angel has already moved to Planet Hollywood.

As to Aria - always seem strange that they have ZERO shows.

I do find it strange based on the entertainment available in most (if not all) of the other strip casinos. We spend a lot of time there and it seems they always have a ton of conference stuff going on.

We leave for a few hours 2-3 nights out of every 4-5 night trip to see shows (mostly at Caesars properties recently) and 1 night to enjoy the better gambling downtown. Some play goes to other places on those trips.

Unfortunately, after two Cirque flops in a row (Elvis and Zarkana), Aria threw in the towel and demolished the theater to expand the meeting and convention space, which they decided would be a far more profitable move than another show. I don't think they even have the space for any other kind of show - maybe for one of those medieval strolling minstrels in the main check in area, but that's about it!

I’ve seen nearly all the CDS shows now and I just have to admit that overall I’m not a fan. I must be one of the plebes that just doesn’t “get” it.
High production costs and a dedicated theater.... I'm curious (Historically) how many return a profit. Compared to other things they could turn casino space into, I wonder how a CDS show ranks in turns of return on investment.

I'd imagine it's gotta be fairly high compared to other uses. For example KA has about 1,900 seats, 2 shows a night, 5 days a week, for about 50 weeks out of the year. Say the average ticket price is $100, that's close to $95,000,000 in revenue a year. That would put it on par with the biggest night clubs.

With that said, even if you're only selling 50% of the seats, you're still getting about 1,000 people into your casino per show.

Yea, I wonder. Guessing some are doing fine since they keep at it.

Mystere is at 26 years now.
    "O" is over 20 years
Zumanity is at 16 years (thinking their cost/overhead is among the lowest)
    KA is 15 years
    LOVE is at 13 years
Michael Jackson now at 6 at MB

    Angel made it to 8
Elvis at Aria was only 3
Zarkana at Aria made it for 4 - never saw it

They use them for perks for there gamblers and a lure to get convention companies to have there guests stay at the properties.

Don't kid yourselves. Cirque is a BILLION dollar company for a reason. They're shrewd as hell.

Most of their shows have paid for themselves many times over. Add in revenues from their touring entertainment, other permanent shows and merchandising... They can easily afford a few failures. They've got the money to burn.
