My wife and I will be traveling (along with 2 other couples) to Vegas in June. It’s our one year anniversary and we’ve decided to stay at Park MGM. We booked through Expedia due to the amount of points we’ve saved and got a real good deal. My question, is there anyway to request a nice room (maybe strip view, newly renovated) since it’s the kiosks?

    Thanks for any help.

If you're Mlife Gold+ then you'd get a free strip view upgrade. Last November when I stayed there I had to use the Kiosk because a human check-in isn't possible. You can only get a human while checking out if you're paying with cash. Kiosk's have absolutely no way of upgrading you. As far as I know, the kiosks just choose whatever room is available.

Anyways, while checking in at the kiosk there will be a few humans that can assist you. Call one over and ask if you could get an upgrade to a strip view, mention it's your anniversary. I'm sure they'd oblige if available. I'm not sure if you could do a $20 dollar trick. It's also kinda awkward because it's not a "sandwich" anymore. You'd just be hanging a $20 near them.

I've also been hearing that check-in agents aren't allowed to accept the $20 trick anymore.

I'll be there in June for my parents anniversary too! Err, renewing wedding vows.

Thanks for the reply, Laugh. I’ll have to try to speak to someone when checking in and see if we can get upgraded, hopefully. I was really hoping to try my luck with the “$20 trick”, but my wife had booked everything before we even noticed the self check in part.

I've heard it's very, very rare to get upgraded on a third party reservation. I'm not saying you shouldn't try, but keep your expectations grounded.

Because of the design of the place, the strip view isn't all that great, looking over a sea of HVAC equipment on the casino roof, toward Walgreen's and the Showcase Mall. The north view at the end of the west wing is probably the best.

Thanks for the reply. Thankfully were not there specially for the rooms, I was just hoping that maybe there would be some nice views for at night.
