...checking in to a property. To explain, I am staying in the Stratosphere for 4 nights but will be moving to the Monte Carlo for my last 2 nights. On day 2 in Vegas I will, however, be redeeming a show ticket at the Excalibur through MyVegas which, based on what I know of MyVegas, means it's already linked to my mlife card. So...if I put in a little play at Excalibur or another mlife property before checking into the Monte Carlo, will my play average be considered very low when I look at what my play could result in as far as my bill at the MC when I check out? No, I'm not looking to play for comps, but I got quite a bit comped off my room charges when I checked out of my already comped suite at The STRAT last year, and I'm hoping for the same at the MC.

Hope that wasn't too confusing...to clarify, would I be better off not using my mlife card at the Excalibur or any other mlife property until I check into the MC or does it not matter because I'm redeeming a MyVegas reward days earlier.

    Thanks in advance!

LOL, that was a little confusing! But, assuming I understand your question, my answer is NO, your play at Excalibur will be recorded on your Mlife card (if you use it), but will not affect whether you get comp'd or not at Monte Carlo. ONLY your play at Monte Carlo will count towards your comps while staying there.

As I understand it, at MGM properties, the play is grouped together for each multi-day visit. CET does each single day.

Is it then averaged over the trip to get the ADT?

So if you stay at a MGM resort and only play 1 day but are staying 3 days then your ADT is cut in third

Consider this -- I'm not sure how it applies, but I know it's true, so it might help:

When I go to Vegas, I stay 2 nights, Friday and Saturday, on comps from MGM properties. I usually show up early Friday and stay late on Sunday, and I play both of those days. My trips are considered 2 day trips because I'm only getting 2 comped nights, so my ADT is calculated as 2 days, even though my play extends over the better part of 3 days.

You confirmed that they consider this a 2 day trip?

I know I saw somewhere that if you gamble at all on a day...even 1 cent then it counts as a gambling day...since the MGM system cycles at 3am I would think you would get rated for 3 days...(Fri arrival --> Sat 3am), (Sat 3am --> Sun 3am), and (Sun 3am --> Sun departure)...

It doesn’t make sense to go by nights you have comp’d...that would imply you can book 1 night comp’d at MGM, and 5 nights at CET, play at MGM all 5 days and get a huge bump in your ADT rating...

Even if it was +/- 1 day around your comp’d nights, you could get a 3 times rating multiplier by timing it right....

I have heard this multiple times from various folks. Are some of you saying at MGM it is DAILY and not overall trip?

I don't believe that is true. When I stay at the mirage, I play there, bellagio, aria, Monte Carlo, MGM Grand and all of my play at all of those casinos is used for any additional comps I used on my trip. I've never had my host at any of the 3 mlife casinos I stay and play at regularly refer to my ADT. It's always been on a per trip basis wether it was a 3 day trip or a 7 day trip. So many hours at such and such average bet and this much coin in which equals this much in theoretical loss.

This is a great question, I was wondering the same thing myself. We are also staying somewhere else before hitting up an Mlife property, and I would love to pick up my show tickets early, but am afraid of triggering something if we do that (or eat at a restaurant and give our card, etc. etc.).

I've been trying to figure out if it is better if Mlife just not even know I am in Vegas until the day I check in. Or does it not matter. Or should we just not gamble at an Mlife property until we are actually going to be putting some serious time in?

I totally understand what you are asking - It seems like there is a lot of debate about it...

That's why I ask...I get great comps at the Stratosphere on my low rolling budget, and on this trip my gambling budget will be mostly used during my 4 nights at the Strat partially to keep the great comps coming and partially because my gambler buddies will be there with me for the first 3 nights and then my husband will show up for the last 3 nights of the trip and isn't a huge gambler. Not that I won't gamble at the MC or on those last few nights, but the daily budget will be a bit less. I'm hoping to establish some kind of history with MGM so I can in the future get offers that I can use to either extend my annual trips or as a change when I get tired of the Stratosphere, and I don't want to ruin that by getting on their radar as in town days before I check in. I think I'll just use my card and see what happens.

Last trip I spent 8 days, 3 at the Bellagio. I used $950 worth of my Vegas Comps through the whole trip. Gambled at each hotel. Didn't think I gambled much at the Excalibur, but have received a:

3 Complimentary Nights with Upgrade to a Contemporary Room
    $150 in FREEPLAY®
$100 in Resort Credit to use at restaurants, bars, entertainment, nightlife, and spa services at any M life Resort
Resort Fee Waived for Complimentary Nights
    VIP Services Check

    Offer from them.

I'm even thinking about staying down at that end of the strip, I usually stay at Bellagio or Mirage, but I loved the vibe at NYNY.

Anyway, Just like everyone else says, earn the points when you can at the MGM properties.

I don't really understand what the difference is.

Let's say you stay at an MGM property for 5 days and 4 nights and you play a total of $1,000 over 4 days and not at all on the 5th. Is your ADT $200 or $250?

Let's say you stay at a CET property for 5 days and 4 nights and you play $500 on the first day and $500 on the 5th day. Is your ADT $500, or $250, or $200.

Additionally, whatever ADT MGM and CET end up assigning to you only applies within that chain.

I think the question that has the biggest impact for both is whether they count check-out day in your ADT, and if playing or not playing on check-out day (or any other day) makes a difference in the denominator of ADT (ie. play zero and the day doesn't count vs. play at all and it does count). If zero playing on check-out day increases your ADT, then it makes sense to do it.

I mean, in the end, they end up seeing how much you spread around, and if your account number is on your reservation, they know how long you were there.
