Received an email from mLife this morning advertising "all inclusive" tickets for most of their Strip shows. It doesn't say what "all inclusive" means though. Alcohol included?

    Example: the Australian Bee Gees

"Enjoy $49 Category B and $39 Category C all inclusive select tickets for The Australian Bee Gees. Valid for select performances beginning December 1st, 2021 through January 31st, 2022. Tickets must be booked before January 31st, 2022."

In this context it means "taxes and fees included". $39 or $49 is the actual out-the-door price you will pay, which is not normally the case.

(If you go a little further in the booking engine, you'll see that the included categories have odd base prices like $26.97 and $36.15 so once the taxes and fees are added, it sums perfectly to $39 or $49.)

Well, I wish that was correct, but when I click through, it adds taxes and fees-

So if an "all inclusive" ticket excludes taxes and fees, what is it "inclusive" of?

@comfortablynumb Look again-- you'll notice that the email said "$39 all-inclusive for category C", and the ticket price (26.97) plus (taxes and fees) adds up to $39.

I guess that makes sense, but IMO it's confusing from a customer standpoint.

I have a feeling this stems from the requirement that they're required to charge tax on everything; if the ticket itself was $39, then tax would be owed on that amount. By breaking out the ticket price from the taxes and other fees, they're disclosing everything and not running afoul of tax law. While I agree it's not worded in the clearest way, the point is that if you buy a ticket, you will be $39 out-of-pocket, not $39 plus taxes, fees, etc.

I personally wouldn't read it that way without further detail. But that's just me.

There are plenty of "all inclusive" vacations that have serious limitations on what is and is not included, as well.

If it's not clear to me, then it's unclear to lots of people. Thankfully I have this forum to be able to ask questions.

Since it was clear to more than one person in this thread, then it's clear to lots of people. But I agree on being glad for the forum.

If you're annoyed about there being further information later in the process, that's beyond the scope of one email. The message at the top of my inbox now is from a clothing store advertising "60% off EVERYTHING*", and then alllllllll the way down at the bottom (which didn't even show up because Gmail truncates long messages), there was a whole long list of exclusions.

I appreciate this kind of pricing. Normally when it comes to show tickets, you add 25% or more to the ticket price to come to your actual out-of-pocket. I like being told the full price up front.

Now, I certainly don’t think the term “all-inclusive” is the best descriptor. Saying something like “includes all taxes and fees” is much clearer.
