    My Trip Report

Well, a lot can happen in a week.

This morning the Governor of California declared that all Santa Clara County residents traveling more than 150 miles away from home serve a 14 day quarantine. Despite thatdeclaration, I am still taking my last trip of the year. Too many commitments made, and I need to get a few nights of uninterrupted sleep (more on that later).

OK, last trip of the year, closing out the year. Originally this was going to the my longest trip EVER to Las Vegas, but Playstudios decided that they were not participating with mLife for the 2020 Holiday Gift Shoppe, so I cancelled my three night stay at Bellagio.

I’m staying at the “poor man’s Circa” as I like to call it, the Golden Gate. The Golden Gate is right across Fremont Street from Circa. I’m “gapping” two months, so I will be starting this trip out with $480 in Free Play from the D, Golden Gate and QQQQ.

Among the commitments on my itinerary this trips are:

1)Deliver XMAS gifts to my hosts at the D and NY-NY. Gifts to my CET and V/P hosts will be in January 2021 for Chinese New Year.

2)I currently have 16,847 HGS points. $50 in Free Play at mLife HGS is 15,000, or I can “play up” for a $50 Honeybaked gift card (17,500). Well, I guess I’ll decide when I go over to NY-NY to visit my host.

3)BFF has opened up a lead in the 2020 W2-G bragging rights between the two of us. I need to have W2-G jackpots exceeding $2,000 to win this year.

4)Visit Area 15, the new multimedia center.

5)Put 20TCs on my Auntie Doris CET TR card.

5)Deliver a Christmas present to a CW that I've known for about 6 years who works at QQQQ. She is scheduled to work Graveyard shifts Monday and Tuesday.

Originally scheduled to dine with the BFF, who was playing in his first Video Poker tournament hosted by Boyd (Fremont and Cal Club). However, he canceled the trip, so this trip will be solo, and appropriate adjustments have been made.

Monday dinner - Nabe Hotpot in Chinatown with FGF Jenny
Monday (late meal) - Deli at Circa
    Tuesday lunch - TBD
Tuesday dinner - Barry's Downtown Prime @ Circa
Wednesday Lunch - Sakana Sushi with Jason (local friend) and maybe VMBer @44inarow

Rental cars just got a whole lot cheaper. Enterprise was down to $18.50 a day at the airport, so I canceled the one day and rented for three. Laughlin is now on the schedule.

So, the schedule is coming together. Right now, Tuesday is pretty much open so I may drive down to Laughlin after I get my “chores” done.

    Sunday 11/29/2020

Last minute things before I take off tomorrow afternoon:

1)Pick up an electric blanket that was on sale ($23.99) at Target for my guest room (ex-wife) bed

2)Pick up dinner at Boston Market (BOGO on individual meals) for me and my son

3)Last minute grocery shopping for NDCC, (Non-Dairy Coffee Creamer), and odds and ends

Wish me luck!! I hope that @Flowers left some (luck) behind!

    Best of luck.

Just curious as an East Bay resident. Is Santa Clara County mandating a quarantine, or recommending consistent with CA Dept of Public Health? How could they ever enforce that?

Well, a friend from the board clarified my misconceptions. it appears that it was a County of Santa Clara directive, and that there is no method for verification or enforcement. To me it's just a "we wish that you would" request.

For reference, Santa Clara County is trying to be tougher than the State. Santa Clara issued the following:

The Health Officer is also issuing a Mandatory Directive on Travel, which strongly discourages leisure and non-essential travel, and requires persons entering the county to quarantine for 14 days upon return from travel of more than 150 miles.

Whereas the CA Dept Public Health issued:

    November 13, 2020

    TO:
    All Californians

    SUBJECT:
    Travel Advisory

The incidence of COVID-19 is increasing in many states and countries. Persons arriving in California from other states or Californians returning from other states or countries could increase the risk of COVID-19 spread. In addition, travel itself can be a risk for exposure to COVID-19, particularly travel through shared conveyance such as air, bus or rail travel.

Travel Advisory for Non-Essential Travel [1]

    1. Persons arriving in California from other states or countries, including returning California residents, should practice self-quarantine for 14 days after arrival. These persons should limit their interactions to their immediate household. This recommendation does not apply to individuals who cross state or country borders for essential travel. [2]

    2. Californians are encouraged to stay home or in their region and avoid non-essential travel to other states or countries. Avoiding travel can reduce the risk of virus transmission and bringing the virus back to California.

Goes without saying, but the new positive cases have increased by 5x since I was there in September, so caution should be taken interacting with locals outside of large venues. Have a great time!
