While this list may be kind of accurate, it really does not describe the Fremont St area at all. To me Downtown was much more than the the sum of the parts, and is rather hard to describe. I would recommend a visit to all of the places on the list. Not because any one place was so noteworthy or memorable, but because they all had a different vibe. Even if it was a rather sad vibe like the Las Vegas Club. Things not to miss... Be sure and get Pancakes at Dupars, they really are the best anywhere. Have fun with some low limit black jack. Play the Sigma Derby game at the D. Do the cheesy picture with the million dollars. See the light show and dance in the street while listening to a live band. Look around at all the old neon signs. Visit the Mob Museum. Enjoy downtown for what it is. We had a great time there and plan on spending a couple of days there next time we go to Vegas.

Nice and concise summary! I appreciate Clownho for starting this thread, and everyone else's additions to it. I spend most of my time on the strip and need some guidance on the "must sees" downtown. Since I'm also bringing two "Vegas Virgins" with me on this trip, I want to try to show them all of Vegas - from the best to the worst!!

This list wasn't meant to handicap the sum of its parts, and then some. Maybe that wasn't clear.

Yes, all of the above mentioned things are a big part of downtown ... and for us, the entire "vibe" of downtown just fits our style. In our earlier days, we stayed on the Strip (and off-Strip) a few times, but for about 40 to 45 trips now, we have been regulars downtown, for a week at a time. It's our favorite "home away from home" .....

Thank you to all who gave this information. I'm coming in December with my daughter who will be turning 21 and is a Vegas Virgin (I'll be turning 50 - not a Vegas Virgin) - I can't wait to get there and see all this stuff again!!!

Downtown Grand's casino seems to be fairly empty of patrons, and while that is not good for the long-term viability of the place, for now it can provide a decent respite if you want to escape some of the madness at the Fremont St joints.

And while apparently the place has been open a while, has the Triple George Grill ever gotten a lot of play? I think its one of the relatively hidden jewels of downtown, if not the whole city. Pizza Rock next door isn't bad either.

Just to throw this out there...the "Hand of Faith" golden nugget has been moved to The Golden Nugget in Biloxi! You can cross it off your list of things to see Downtown.

Keep an eye on the concert schedule for "major nationwide" acts. I ate at Andiamos last night and before flying out I thought about walking out under the canopy for one last time before I left and Three Doors Down was about to start a free show. I stayed inside the D, which was packed. Fremont St was insane, had to have been over 10,000 people packed in like sardines. I love downtown, and this trip I fell in love with the D.
