How do these work? Is it a one time bet or do you get to continue to use chip if you win? I'm being offered $500 in promo chips or $500 in freeplay.

Where at? Some casinos have different rules for these type of promotions.

You gotta know the rules. Is it use it once or does it stay alive on a win or push?

Sounds like freeplay for table users. Usually you place a bet with promo chips only, say ten dollars worth. If you lose they take the promo chips. If you win they give you ten dollars in real chips and take the promo chips. But check with the pit boss; years ago we purchased a promo chip package at Circus Circus and the dealers had no idea what to do with them.

Every time I get promo chips, at multiple different companies, they are one bet use only. Like mentioned, bet the fake $10. They are taking that chip no matter the outcome of the bet. If you win, a real $10 chip will now be in front of you.
I think that promo chips have a value of a little less than half. $500 promo chips means you will probably turn it into $250 real money.

If that's the case here (I really don't know as it varies by casino), you definitely would want to take the freeplay if the chips are not "play til you lose".

I have come to that conclusion too. $500 free play run through a 98% video poker machine will certainly leave more than $250 real credits. Well, maybe not certainly! lol
