Well, I just confirmed my airline and hotel reservations. Flying AA from Hartford to Vegas, very short layover in Chicago. I will arrive in Las Vegas for the first time ever Friday morning around 10:30am.

I am just about packed, just need to pack my everyday stuff on Thursday night. Thursday is going to be busy. I have to work until 5pm, then go home, finish up packing, then make a 45+ minute drive to Mom and Dad's house. It is Dad's birthday on Thursday, plus we have to drop the dog off, as they are babysitting their "grandchild" for the week.

So, we leave Friday, arrive in Vegas at 10:30am, staying at Bally's (great deal on Expedia) for 5 nights. The reason we are heading out there is a wedding. A friend of my wife is getting married there and we were invited, so we decided to make it a nice vacation. They are getting married on Saturday night (hopefully I will still be able to catch the Tyson/Lewis fight, as well as the Belmont Stakes). My wife will be busy with the bride all day Saturday, so that will be my big gambling day. The rest of the week will be sightseeing, R&R by the pool, and more gambling, of course.

Any last minute suggestions for a Vegas newbie? Expect a trip report soon after my return.

#1 suggestion....HAVE FUN!!!! Make sure to eat the late night breakfast next door at the Barbary Coast. Good food and some interesting characters if you go real late(early). When you land, try not to get TOO excited sitting on the tarmac. You can see the strip from the plane. When I went for my first time in March, we had to be towed into the terminal. Took about 30 minutes. I was ready to jump out the window!!

Take your wife out for a romantic dinner at Mon Ami Gabi at Paris. Great food, great setting (ask for a table with a view of the Bellagio fountains), not terribly expensive. She'll love you for it.

Have a good time and GOOD LUCK!

Have a great time! We are staying at Bally's from 6/29 - 7/6. Let me know what room to ask to upgrade to. - Which tower - we'd like a view of the strip.

Definitely stop at Barbary and eat breakfast - GREAT FOOD! GREAT PRICE!

Don't forget about the Monorails to get around or strip trolley - exact change only (saves on your feet). In Bally's, if you play slots at all, stick to the ones in the mall area - seem to hit more often! Check out the show at the Rio - use shuttle from Harrahs. - Check out the fountains at Bellagio!!!!!
