    My Trip Report

This is the best type of Vegas trip. You know, the one where Vegas is nowhere in sight then all of a sudden you have just finished booking your trip. So bare with me as I give you some details.
Keep in mind that I'm not the writing talent that
Mikey is which is why I usually just read the posts. Ok, here goes......

My last trip to Vegas was in November 02, and was sick the whole trip. So I have been itching to get back.

I've been trying to set up something for a while but with no luck due to schedule, business etc. even had a room booked this month that had to be cancelled. Then it happends........

The mrs and I get a phone call a few weeks ago that her Aunt and Uncle who are big vegas people booked a trip for June 1-7 at Monte Carlo. We have always talked about going together but it never seemed to work out. So another phone call and visit from them over past weekend laying it on thick about vegas made it very tempting.

On monday 5/19 the mrs calls me at work and tells me that we got something funny in the mail. She goes on to say that we got a wedding invitation and would you believe that the wedding is in vegas
on the same week that her Aunt and Uncle will be there. With that she says those magic words " maybe we really should go"........ When I got home
all the vegas postcards where on the table and I enjoyed that rush you get as you are looking for airfares and the hotels that will give you the best deal. I actually took a moment to realize that I was smiling from ear to ear. The details are.....

Going June 2-6(don't even have to wait that long)
flying Jetblue out of New york 250.00 round trip.

staying at the Trop.... never stayed there before
but the calander postcards they sent me were too hard to pass up. $35.00 a night with Thursday free plus the Rick thomas show tix's and tix's for the other show free. Some 2 for 1 drinks specials etc.....I know the rooms are small from what I read on here, but I never spend anytime in the room other then to pass out and shower. Plus the pool is nice with the swim up Black Jack(after memorial day, I made sure).

So that's it...... There's nothing like a vegas trip that falls into your lap. I'll admit that my hits to this board increase 100 times when I have a trip booked so I'll be on alot between now and June 2nd. I'll make sure I'll write a trip report when I get back...

P.S. I was trying to get out there in July to be part of the "Hurricane Eleven" until this trip came up. I'm sure mikey and the gang will do alot of damage to the casino's while they are there.

    Hey Ronster...

That's beautiful man, a Vegas trip that just falls in your lap!!!

I really look forward to your trip report, with details about the Tropicana--a place I've always wanted to visit, but never have.

I especially like the reference to the 'Hurricane's Eleven' trip in July. Hmmmm...sounds like a good name for a trip report!

  4. Hi Ronster!

Just got back. Stayed at the Tropicana, and was pleasantly surpised. The service was awesome, people friendly, cocktail waitresses everywhere! The casino might be a little older, but they treat their guests very well. Use the player card. Between myself, my brother, and sister, we had over $650.00 in comps coming, plus we all received a free t-shirt and $$ back for playing. We cashed in our playing credits right before check-out & going to the airport...whoa.hoa I now had $$ in my pocket to go home. I tell ya...been home 2 weeks, I still have $20 bucks left in my purse...go figure...in Vegas..that $20 would have been gone in 2 minutes! The pool was also very nice, food at Calypso very good, and their Italain restaurant and Steak house very good. We never hit the buffet so I cannot comment on that.
We are definately going to make Tropicana our home for next year. Hope they are still around then.

Good Luck and have fun! [IMG]

Hey Vacationgirl, you make it sound alot better then just a place to lay your head. I do have my players club card from the last time I played there. I do remember that the casino was a little older but I did have fun there. I'll have to see if I have any cash waiting there for me from the last time. Were you able to get anything back from the room charge based on your play? I'll have to remember about the t-shirts....
I'm sure mine will cost me a few hundred bucks ;) . Thanks for the reply. I'm glad you had good things to say about the Trop. Also, you gotta love the location.

Hey Gecko, It's less then 2 weeks away. Any longer and it will kill me. Planning and booking a vegas trip far in advance is hard to take. Thank god it's t-12. I have to find things to keep my mind off of it. This board helps and hurts and the same time(if you know what I mean). But I do have Yankee Box seats for tonights game. Hope the rain holds up.... and with a 3-day weekend coming up, Vegas should be here before you know it. Thanks for the words.

    Hey Mikey,

To think That I might have came up with the next title for your next trip report is an honor. You should really send Anthony Curtis some of your Reports and maybe he will hire you. Very few can put into words the feeling of Vegas like you can. Did you finally land a Job? If Not, take my suggestion. Sounds like Vacationgirl can give you some good details about trop as well.

We have stayed at the Trop. twice, and were very happy both times. We are not big players so we have never been comped, but we do get some great offers in the mail. The first time we paid for the up grade to the front tower, I cant remember the name. It was a nice room a little bigger than the room we had at TI. The second time we got upgraded for free, and were put in the island tower, the room was also very nice and pretty good size. Each room had there good points, the first room was close to the front door and fast to get to, we also had a nice view of the strip. The island tower is in the back of the casino and a long hike to get to the room, but it was close to the pool. I was very happy both stays, we switched to TI last time do to the location, and the blisters I get everytime we go to Vegas. I wish I could say we are going soon, but we bought a house so it's going to be a while.

I've stayed at the Trop and enjoyed it very much. The only little problem was you have to walk a country mile to get to the lobby if your staying in the back tower. We stayed in a jacuzzi suite and I have to tell you , you get alot for your money. A very powerful, modern jacuzzi, a steam shower, plus a bar complete with bar stools. See if they will upgrade you, you won't be disappointed.
