    My Trip Report

Ok all, I had great intentions of writing a stellar, live trip report...full of juicy, vibrant shenanigans...for all my beloved VMBers. The I arrived in Vegas, and I remembered how BORING I am in Vegas! Despite 8-11 day trips, my trips consist of relaxing, great mid-tier food, a little (key word little) exploring, and lots and lots of veg-time on slots.

BUT you all have done such a stellar job of being generous with sharing YOUR trips, I'll take a scaled-down swing at sharing mine...just know this one is pretty much slot porn since I threw in the towel on keeping updates once I remembered what a slot slug I am (to use Geogran's term!)...I'll try to diversify next trip. :)

    DETAILS:
    Dates: 8/24 - 9-3
    Length: 10 days
Hotels: Bellagio, Cosmo, and a first time at Mandalay Bay

We were lucky to have all our rooms comped, BUT with MLIFE possibly changing some things on the breakdown between direct offers and corporate, I might have to come up with new strategies to keep doing longer comped trips, while still on a mid-roller budget. But, that's just the nature of Vegas, the moment you have her figured out, she switches things up on you! You never can get too big for your britches, but that's part of what fascinates me about her, so if it happens, I'll adapt and have fun with new strategies. :D

    Travel Fun:
Drama One: Lets just say I am very lucky to have a patience, generous better half. I don't like mornings. Not even on departure day. My better half is a morning bird----thank goodness for me, but poor man! Well, this trip I did well, and I left a nice time cushion for leaving. I felt I deserved a prize for this, and I enjoyed a leisurely extra two cups of black coffee. I thought, "the day is good".

Result? We made it, but we didn't have time for our tradition of Jalapeno-infused Bloody Mary's at Henry's in the airport. Saint that he is, he did forgive me though! Due to my last timing fiasco though, I have officially given the hubby full dictatorial rights on all future travel days...he will be the "keeper of departure time".

Luggage: Despite a direct flight, SW did not deliver our luggage, and "nicely" offered that we could wait in the airport for 4 hours, or pay for delivery. (No explanation of why it was delayed, this I had to dig for and push.) Since I had been running a little late, had it been explained more nicely, I would have been fine, but I had Miss Snarks-a-Lot. Oh well, we paid the $30 fee, and finally got the luggage next day, and SW gave us a $75 dollar voucher post-trip, which I thought was very cool, and very generous!

And Let the Games Begin: The Stays

    Rung One: Bellagio 8/24 - 8/27
We arrived at Bellagio and it was a zoo with the Mayweather/McGregor fight coming up on 8/26....but it was a fun, happy zoo. We checked into our standard King room and the trip was off! This segment will have less highlights/photos, as the Bellagio trip was a little rocky with trying to wrestle down luggage (much harder than it should have been) and slots not liking me that much. I want to focus my TR on the best/fun parts of the trip, as that's what we REALLY enjoy, right? (That, and of course we all enjoy FUNNY drama and "you didn't really do that" moments, but sorry guys, like I said---b-o-r-i-n-g, so I'll focus on the fun pics/recaps you might like.) It WAS a fun stay though, even our stressful stays.

One interesting note for people with Comps, I normally do NOT get direct offers at Bellagio. This one made me nervous, as it had no code, and I was going to be using my corp offer at MB. SInce Bellagio assured me I could still use my corp offer elsewhere (and since I received the glossy "you're comped" fancy-schmancy magazine pre-trip), I figured I'd risk booking a "possibly direct vs. Corporate" comp. You'll get the outcome in my MB update, later in this string. :)

Food: We didn't eat much here. We had our beloved beef carpaccio at Olives (tradition), I brought some late night pizza from "Snacks" into the room. And had a two-free buffets at Monte Carlo that we used. Yeah, yeah, I know, cheap, but MC was our first stay together, and the buffet is going away for good, so it was cheap AND nostalgic. Plus we hit brunch, so I was able to enjoy my beloved eggs benedict. Give me ok EB, and I'm a happy camper.

    Slots:
Oh my gosh, this was by far the most brutal rung of the trip. I am a camper, a binger, a slot-slug (thanks GG) on slots. I prefer one big, decadent session, lot lots of "here and there" sessions throughout the day. I usually explore during the day, and then slot-binge at night...one big session, with a daily bankroll I stick to pretty darn strictly.

Quick note, I can talk a lot during regular times, but since my job is people-related, I just like to veg, play slots, unwind, and NOT be super chatty-cathy in Vegas. Bars are not my thing. My better half is a scientist, and rarely talks to people during regular times. We flip-flop in Vegas, I become "she of minimal words" and he turns into a chatty cathy tornado, loving to hit the bars, talk sports, chat with the bartenders, listen to live music. It's a good blend because we spend lots of time together, but also spend lots of time doing what we EACH want individually. Slots would bore him to tears, and talking for hours with people in bars would remind me of work/networking---we have a good balance!

Well, hubby was having a BLAST at Bellagio with all the crazy pre-fight stuff going on. Both of us are pretty flexible, easily self-entertained, and not controlling, so I told him enjoy his tornado-antics with all the pre-fight bar hopping and walk-abouts, and I convinced myself I probably COULD balance day gambling and night gambling.

    Nope.

I remembered there is a reason I just give myself one big session, I basically went through 4.5 days bankroll on my 3 day Bellagio stay. But it was a fun trip. Here are a few pics, not many, only because I wasn't picking the best machines this time. We both really enjoyed the stay though!

So, on slot porn, just a few:

This one is for Chuck, as I know it's one of his favorite games. I tend to love Quick Hits or games with fun bonuses that DON'T give less theo (and actually can give out decent payouts), but my tried and trues were giving me the cold shoulder, so I tried to think of games you other VMB'ers like, and Iknow Chuck loves Cleo. I actually hit this at EACH casino for you Chuck...she said you're almost due to come back to Vegas!

    Cleo.jpg

and then, I did like this dragon game, it did well at first, and I had a few wins (below) but then my Polish side kicked in, and I kept going back despite it showing an alter-ego. I avoided it on all other hotels, but it was fun when it was hot!

    dragon 2.jpg

and another. This one was kind of fun, because it hit after a brutal spell on this machine. I kept wishing I'd win around $250, which I knew was a pretty tough wish since I rarely bet crazy amounts, but it hit for exactly $268! It was really, really neat to see a machine hit right at your wishlist figure, that rarely happens!

    Dragon.jpg

So, that's it for Bellagio! In a few days, I'll update with rung 2, Cosmo. That is where I'd say our stay really got fun. Also, my in-laws came for that part, and yes, I met someone famous there, which was also fun. Also lots more slot porn, as Cosmo was more kind to us than Bellagio.

So, for now, I'll use Looney Tunes famous quote...."That's all Folks!" (Until Later!)

How uninteresting! :poke: Seriously, I know how you feel. I used to write more TRs, but I felt like they were all becoming the same story: gambled (either a little or a lot), ate too much food, and probably ended up hiking, DT, or at the pinball HOF one day. :snore:

Keep going. Its interesting. Will be curious to know your first impression of Mandalay

Your TR is not boring at all. Doing what you love to do in Vegas and sharing it is much appreciated, for there are others on this board who also enjoy the things you love to do.

Looking forward to your next installment!

Definitely not boring. Sux the trip started with lost luggage; my luggage was lost once on the trip home from Vegas but never arriving (knock wood). That would be really upsetting. Looking forward to hearing more.
