The Cee-ment Pond..........is what Jed Clampett would call it.

My thighs turned blue, in May - standing in the ice water there.
    It ain't heated , baby !

That posted pic of the pool is hilarious.

They have closed it during high winds cos the beat up furniture
would blow around the circular ( encased ) pool area.

    Having said all this........
    I didn't mind it.

The pool never got the morning sun because the LVC North tower would block out the sun until after lunch, making the pool very cold most of the day. Now without the LVC blocking the sun the pool may not be as cold as before.

Yup, the pool is great if you don't like crowds. Unless there is a party I never saw the pool having more than a few people.

Never been to Plaza pool yet but its picture reminds me of the pool that Binions had, also on its roof. This was probably 10+ years ago so Im assuming Binions pool is no longer open?

If the Cal pool isn't sufficient for you, a daybed or cabana can be purchased at the GN for non-guests.. there are some blackout periods for this, but i've been able to take advantage..

Can someone who's been there recently doubly confirm if the Cal pool is still always empty since doing these renovations? It was quite ugly up there before so I could see it being empty, but to me it now looks quite nice, and no crowds is definitely preferable to me.

$15 resort fee now which sucks, but at least fairly reasonable.

Are most of the rooms now renovated?

I was there for 3 days May 7,8, and 9. I like the renovated pool at the Cal, it is peaceful usually. sometimes I am the only one there. sometimes 5-10 people. the water is ICE cold. there was a group there with 4 six-packs of glass bottles, they were respectable, not rowdy. while they are not strict about bringing your own drinks, they should have not brought glass.

The pool at the Cal is just a big bathtub. We were there and it was 100 outside, but the pool water took your breath away it was so cold. What makes it funny is that the water they were selling in the vending machine was warm.
