The first and obvious factor for us north of the 49th is reopening of the borders. So there's that.. I also am waiting to see how self isolation shakes out. Once that is all sorted and clear then I will make some plans. We lost our annual March/April trip and if it is at all feasible we will get back in 2020. I'll be honest though I see a potential for the end of Oct.

I couldn't decide between "When it returns to normal" and "When there is a vaccine." Unless the virus mysteriously disappears, a vaccine will probably be the only way to get things back to "normal," so the two choices go together. I can't wait to go back, but waiting is what I'll do.

    And HAPPY WORLD TURTLE DAY!

I am booked for my birthday, first week of August. Delta's website says they are promoting social distancing by blocking off seats through June 30. Hope they extend that because I don't want to sit next to someone on the plane. I had previously been booking aisle seats so I can get the hell off the plane quicker, but didn't want one for this trip because I feel safer in the window seat.

I hate wearing a mask, and I took this into consideration when figuring out my itinerary. For one example, I had booked four nights at Flamingo. I planned one day to start at Mandalay Bay, doing an Mlife birthday free play / MyVegas Konami free play run, making my way back to Flamingo. It would have looked like this:

Uber to Mandalay Bay - Konami free play
Luxor - Konami + birthday free play
    Excalibur - Konami + birthday
New York NY - Konami free play
Park MGM - birthday free play
    Aria - Konami free play
    Bellagio - Konami free play

Back to Flamingo. This would have been my big day out on the Strip, doing what I love, casino hopping and taking photos of each property.

Now though, I have to be realistic that in the hours this will take, I will have a mask on for many hours straight. The longest I have had a mask on at home has been maybe 90 minutes tops, when waiting on line for groceries.

So I traded out two nights at Flamingo for two nights at Luxor, paying a resort fee. But this allows me to break up this portion and chill in the room midway.

I did buy a cooling mask, that hasn't shown up yet. I need to try wearing it in my apartment for a few hours at a time to get a feel for what this trip will be like. If I find it truly terrible, I need to redo my itinerary some more. I could end up booking the entire trip for Downtown so that I am always near enough to my room if I need a break from the mask.

I like the bar at Boars Head and Chicago Brewing Company. I like to eat at the bar at CBC and California’s Redwood bar. I don’t see much enjoyment at any of them if there is a plexiglass “wall” between me and the staff. I would fully understand it being installed but just could t have the fun I’ve had in the past interacting with staff and servers.
And that’s just a small inconvenience in the bigger picture. So I put wait a couple months so to see what trip reports reveal. Not real definitive but I’m retired without a real schedule.

I selected 'when they work out the bugs' - I'm booked for late September so I expect many bugs to be worked out by then. Ultimately VMB trip reports will tell me when it's time to go...

I am getting some good offers from Vegas properties. If my Biloxi properties don't match or better those offers, likely early fall.

I'm enjoying seeing all the different reasons people are posting. It's interesting to see how everyone else is making their calculations. Thank you to everyone who has (so far) been respectful of each other's differing opinions.

I selected "when there is a vaccine". I'm in a couple high risk categories and have some still undiagnosed auto-immune issues that could be complications if I catch it. When I had my sinus surgery in March, we had some serious issues with glucose control and my ability to cough out stuff in my lungs, requiring a nebulizer in the hospital and an inhaler at home. After I had my ENT and the hospital send reports to my primary doc and endocrinologist, I've talked to both of them about travel for me and... well, it wasn't encouraging.

I have had the Vegas travel talk with my doctor a few times where she will say things like "I'm not suggesting you can't drink at all in Vegas, but..." That kind of thing. This was the same. "If you wear a mask and stay away from crowds, especially people not wearing masks... If you limit your gaming time to 45 minutes - 1 hour or less and get outside or in a hotel room often, preferably with a window you can open.... " None of that sounds like "Vegas" to me.

I'm sad that Vegas isn't likely this year and maybe not next year either. But it will probably be there when I'm ready again. :)

Not suggesting you can’t drink and limiting playing time to 45-60 minutes. I only know you casually but unless it was an an abbreviation I don’t see you following this doctor’s recommendation and going to vegas. And having any semblance of fun.
It’s like going to a family reunion with fried chicken and okra and onion rings and great drinks and aunt Maude— but you’re on a low cholesterol diet with minimal fat. Who IS that sitting over there by herself? OH....that’s Sonya—-you know, THAT side of the family. Ohhhhh.

someone said earlier, vegas ain’t going nowhere (love double negatives) so just wait til it meets the threshold and you can go and have fun like you want. You can always wear a mask and sit in the backyard playing games on line without drinking. Why travel so far for the same experience.

Mentally, I’m already in Vegas and will happily read all of our members observations and experiences and will be soooo envious. :D. Frankly, all the restrictions and absence of all the accoutrements we are used to in Vegas would not deter me from going tomorrow. I’d be perfectly happy with round the clock slots and a nice hotel room to crash in.. All the pretty stuff can follow later. I’m a true degenerate.

Physically, I’ll be back pronto as soon as I’ve had the vaccine, however long it takes, and doc says ‘you go, girl’ :woohoo:

I am currently working from home since March until at least Labor Day. I am going crazy being indoors at home and have booked a trip during the 2nd week of June. Since I need a laptop to work I don’t think being in a hotel room makes huge difference.

Well, before the day we went downtown together after the meetup, consider that my doctor and I had that same conversation about not drinking, so..... :wink2:

I have a tribal casino about 15 minutes from my house. They do serve drinks, but they cost actual money on top of what you're losing, so I don't drink there. :) I have been there about 4 times since we moved here 17 years ago. So, unlikely I'll be going there either. ;)

Vegas is about Vegas-ing for me. Seeing my friends, hanging out, cocktails and shenanigans, slot-hopping with friends, grinding VP alone in the morning or late at night, fantastic food, and more shenanigans. Vegas will wait for me.

Well.....It would appear you need to listen more closely about imbibing OR get a new doctor. As I recall I was exhausted and you went on to dance the street. Such is the age old problem:p.

Sorta bitter my trip this weekend was a no go, but I’ve made peace with it for the most part. I think I’m gonna ride it out for at least a few months. I enjoy sports out there so I may have to wait it out. I’ve seen the local restrictions and just don’t want to settle for something I don’t absolutely love in Vegas just to go I think.

We are booked for the last week in August. Hopefully we can go. I can deal with the mask thing if I have to. I wear one at work 11 hours a day so I'm kind of used to it now.

I picked asap but will wait for the SEMA show in Nov. I arrive OCT 30 and can only do one trip. 8 days planned for right now. Hopefully Halloween will be as entertaining like other years. If I could go when ever I would wait a week or two after the casinos open. Thinking there might be more people then. I would think the first folks showing up will be treated pretty well by the hotel staff with fewer people being there than normal.

Probably next year (which is what I chose), but if the WSOP actually happens in the fall and I can make it, I'll consider it. Not likely though (not for COVID reasons, just for life reasons)
